TEST5 (AKA destructive test) - is now running

cool that there are so many sites on the testnet :slight_smile: thanks for sharing all those links :slight_smile:

yes obviously as you listed it before. quotes.blindsite.safenet

Yes, that’s the odd one out. I wondered if it does it still exist. quotes.blindsite.safenet didn’t receive any HTTP code by reply from here; so, then it fell back to trying blindsite.safenet and can see that is a PublicID but can’t answer for whether there are live subdomains.

Looking… I see it does in the browser now, so have no answer to that… it’s possible it falls over the 30sec limit on the wget attempt.

Re the Demo App

 --------------------------------------------------
| FfiError::NfsError -> NfsError::SelfEncrpytion -> Storage(SelfEncryptionStorageError(Low account balanceCoreError::MutationFailure::{ reason: LowBalance, data_id: Immutable(4a72a4..)}))
 --------------------------------------------------

I wonder the Demo App doesn’t handle the low balance error well; when uploading a directory to /private/, the GUI appears to succeed but the listing suggests some files with 0 bytes having given that error above in the terminal. Where upload fails for low balance perhaps that should be declared and obvious which bits did succeed.

From leaving my machine on from about 10am this morning to 10pm tonight I picked up 198 safe_vault_chunk_store files using just over 23mb of space on my machine, vault seems to have been steady and flicking between 43 and 44 routing table size.

nice

for comparison, mine looks to be 29.8MB and Routing table 47.

It would be interesting to now what difference exists across the network, whether that is deliberate and on what metrics.

hi all,

vault 1:
48 in table
9.1mb stored

vault 2:
50 in table
30mb

“My kind of spider” meant the sort of spider, out in the wild, I would be hoping to see. You then drew me into discussing my specific plans for a spider.

It is apparent that you either write this stuff to get a predetermined, subjective result (“too simple”) or drop the ball altogether (Blindsite).

@davidpbrown from your description it sounds like your listing of safenet sites running on testnets is an elaborate undertaking already so maybe you also want to have a look at this method to filter for reused content?

It’s called Normalized Compression Distance and provides a relative measure when comparing documents?

Using “ncd.exe” downloaded from here I started by comparing the Maidsafe template offered in the current Demo-application with itself:

ncd.exe mypage.html mypage.html => 0,000000

Then a minor alteration to its content and comparing again with the original:

title=“My Page” > “Test” => 0,065990

Progressively more editing and the resulting scores:

title=“Test” + body=“…using” > “…not using the MaidSafe demo app” => 0,072682

title=“Test” + body=“A Spiders Best Friend” => 0,244216

Here the outcome for the pages rejected by your current setup, compared to the vanilla template:

ncd.exe mypage.html bishop.html => 0,947917

ncd.exe mypage.html bluebird.html => 0,979434

ncd.exe mypage.html nigel.html => 0,912596

So what do you think, is this a good method to discriminate against reused templates?

Is the test over? trying to get involved - launcher not connecting

@reid i just connected and have a vault running as well. data and sites i have previously stored and published are still fully intact! try restarting launcher is my only real suggestion but no the test is not over.

Is this test considered a success so far? The network is still up and running strong it seems. Would love to hear thoughts on this and if there is anything else in store for this test!

So exciting. Its like the people making this work don’t know the 10 years dream is up and running. This stuff is working. As an outsider its so exiting. Its running, its working. Yes, a lot of work still to be done but proof of concept running right now. I know its still very humble because nowhere is there verified hardware and there could be essentially unforeseeable counters out there even crazy things on the level of digital physics, still this is a uncompromising project coming to life. Very, very impressive. A testament to will and integrity. Thank you MaidSAFE!

Well there are some glitches so far but it seems to be holding together yes. Some sites are not loading, or loading properly but the vaults are running and the basics seem to be functioning still. So I think yes the network will live, it’s just a matter of efficiency.

I’m still wondering why the pics on my site won’t load up. Are the files still intact or did the data get lost in the void somewhere?

@Blindsite2k that’s too bad you’re having data issues, i have had zero issues since having to my restart my launcher the one time at the very beginning of the test, like zero issues at all, i’m very impressed. But my real question was is this TEST very specifically, considered a success? Because Mr. Irvine had stated this test has some features missing that are intended to keep the network alive so that the network would die quickly to get the needed data for this test round. It seems this test was designed to have network fail after short time and that was the desired result but instead it’s still going strong, so therefore is this a successful test?

I’ve got it all on my computer so it’s no issue it’s just something to note and get fixed. I don’t know if it’s me specifically or something with the whole network.

Btw I think you’re switching question marks (?) with periods (.). As you were putting ? at the end of sentences. :wink:

@dirvine: Your assuredly weak network is full of long standing nodes on average internet connections. Can we get an “MVP” to celebrate Bitcoin’s big halving, now? Far as I am concerned, the tests have met criteria for MVP. Set the vault sizes to a GB and PUTs to 100 MB and let 'er rip! Market this proof of concept because it is now the real deal. Let everyone know that it is only a massive testing iteration of the network with temporary data… then introduce the SD slowly but surely with revolving tests of permanence.

I’m also constantly getting “Waiting for establishing with safenetwork” on win7 with service pack1. Test4 I even had to try 25 times before it connected on windows.

Everything runs smooth when I run it on Ubuntu

Remember The DAO! I’d rather get the bugs out and kick them in the balls rather than have something buggy and lose steam.

I’ve had these problems during last test, but so far not problems like these. I’m running 64bit Ubuntu.
