TEST5 (AKA destructive test) - is now running

i’m getting a lot of
ERROR 16:52:17.476706000 [routing::core core.rs:2248] Node(6bc7b4…) Failed to send ack: FilterCheckFailed
INFO 16:52:45.037712000 [routing::core core.rs:639] Node(6bc7b4…) Failed to connect to peer PeerId(9cf7…).
so a lot of failing to connect to peers and sending acknowlegements but i’m assuming this is normal just the network dealing with churn etc?

The context is disaster recovery. I.e., on a live network. You don’t build a disaster recovery mechanism by taking it out before it would be used in earnest.

Uh, what is the point of live testing? The point is that you can’t simulate people. The scenarios from which disaster recovery would be necessary cannot be predicted in advance. A centrally-controlled kill switch is useless for simulating an outage, since there are many (maybe nearly all) potential disasters that would not involve an outage of every vault in the world but more likely that there will be pockets of vaults here and there, leading to temporary (if the disaster recovery mechanisms work) loss of consensus, but consensus would be spontaneously rebuilt by atomic action of the individual vaults.

Worse case scenario like a world wide outage where we are all prolly dead anyway but seriously what’s wrong with the overkill? Just proves the network is all the more resilient but of course i’m thinking of data chains testing because as i understand without it there would be some data loss in a world wide outage.

Honourable mention for http://quotes.blindsite.safenet for some glitch missing that… too slow a reply it seemed to get no http code reply.

You know people CAN live without internet and electricty. It’s been done before.

It loads for me but the quotes aren’t loading. I think we’re entering the self destructive phase of the Test.

I’m completely aware as I’m not ALWAYS plugged in but if I am and I happen to be on the brink of genius, chatting over secure messaging with my comrade genius buddies, storing our fantastical findings for all the world to see and then BAM world wide outage and all because people CAN live without internet we all have to lose out… Bummer dude

That last sentence is pure projection. You’re engaged in argumentum ad nauseum. Bye.

just for the record  vault running since ~1h after vault release - on a regular a-dsl line with 24h disconnects - no problems this side of the globe =)

Can’t register an account. After typing in a PIN I get the text: “Waiting for establishing with safenetwork”, and vault will not run either. Network down???

I just started a Vault, connected to 32 nodes in second and I logged on as well. No problems here.

mmm strange. Got an internet connection, no problem there. Will check it out…

Aside from the issue with http://quotes.blindsite.safenet all other sites still responding, at least for the index.html. I wonder retrieval of files is a bit slow, it seems reliable.
Upload and DNS appear to be fairly quick.

Have you tried to redownload and extract the package? Worked for me once.

And http://test.bluebird.safenet is still up, too simple for certain spiders but sufficient for network engineers.
