After recent news about an October release, does this mean that Maidsafe actually works and is a viable solution?

The solution has taken 18 years and technology changes over such a long time. Is this still the solution that people want or is there now another optimum solution which others are working on?

What are potential reasons why Maidsafe won’t become a world leading solution? Will governments try and stop as has been discussed previously?

“try” is the operative word there.

Besides none will pay attention untill it is beyond their control which is a pretty low bar for most.

One thing we can say for sure is that the government does not move quickly on any front, no matter how important it is.

The difficulty will be bringing regular Inet users onboard. Crypto in general hasn’t really succeeded in this yet - only a small percent of Inet users use crypto.

So we have to break that limit and demonstrate to people why they need to use Safe. This isn’t going to be easy and will take some time IMO.

The plan evolved and adapted as well slong those 18 yrs.

We should be able to do what eth, btc, file coins do plus a great deal more .

Id say were good and current.

Only dictatorships move quickly on information supply from outside. Even then its still slowish.

But we found* out that mostly they start investigating when it has reached a tipping point. Either by lobbying or government departments report seeing X%age of the population talking freely with no oversight on a scale that exceeds some level. It took 2 decades for the internet to even start getting attention from governments. If 10% or maybe 20% of the population is on Safe then I doubt any non-dictatorship will even notice. And then it’ll take more to consider action. Maybe quicker if 10% of fiat is replaced by bartering on that network and that will take a lot.

* from legislation tried to be introduced in the late 2000’s or early 2010’s because of claims by lobby groups. “protect the children” lobbying by the Fake Christian lobby group. (really a group of narcissists fooling christians) And from other legislation they tried later on. Also they considered control/filtering 80% of the population is sufficient filtering.
