SAFEBook - Social Network

Synero looks super cool, but at the same time its frustrating to not see our people work together…

As far as I have understood, you will be able to import your Facebook account into Synereo and earn AMPs (the Synereo coin) by doing so.
So it would mean that everyone could move over to Synereo and be paid for it.
Whereas with Facebook it’s not the user who earn the bucks, it’s Facebook earning off of your back.
Facebook owns your content.
With Synereo you own your content. And it’s going to be de-centralized and anonymous (afaik?)

This is how I understand it, but I don’t know all details and plans for Synereo yet, so I might be wrong?

Is there any work already being done on SAFEBook or any other social network aiming to use MaidSafe as its underlying infrastructure?

That’s correct, dazh, though I would say “private” rather than anonymous. You can define what aspects of your identity to share and choose whether to identify yourself or stay anonymous depending on the part of the network you’re engaging in, the application you’re using, or a specific interaction.

As a general update on Synereo, we’re about to make our first public release in two months. It’ll be accompanied by a crowdfunding campaign on BnkToTheFuture. More details are available on our blog, and you can of course join our weekly hangouts or slack channel to talk to us about it directly.

Didn’t you already do a crowdsale a few months ago?

We had one in April. We had always intended to carry out multiple sales, corresponding with development milestones.

I don’t know. So why not work with Safe if the technologies compliment one another?

William Hertling has a new fiction book called “Kill Process” where he makes the point describing what is essentially this SAFEBook type approach (although its called Tapestry in the book) that decentralizing social networking can challenge all centralized power in the world. I believe this strongly now.

If SAFE is the stem and roots, the social network built upon it will be the flower.

It was in my opinion a good book with a strong message and also very good at helping the public understand what is so hideously wrong with entities like facebook painting them quite clearly through many vicious analogies and metaphors and hammering in a story that will amount to a solid education almost by osmosis for readers who are not already aware. .
