SAFE Network - TEST 7

Finally got to download 0.7.1 and it works very smoothly here, OS X 10.9.5.

What a rush to visit a .safenet site for the first time!

I was a bit tripped up by this term “secret” during signup however. It would be great to have a one-sentence explanation of what that is/does, since it’s not commonly used in computing & networking on the user side (yet) – as opposed to “password”.

I suggest you try out this commercial demo, it is really something:

Some papers:

And I better open up a new thread because I feel we went way OT with this discussion.

uhm - worked for me yesterday as i wrote it Oo (and still working for me with the current launcher)

Please do… walls of text off topic perhaps are hiding other gems on topic?

:bulb:: Where a subdomain does not exist, would it be helpful to list what subdomains do exist?.. So, on the back of any 404 response to subdomain.publicid.safenet, should the launcher helpful list all those subdomains that do exists against that publicid? I don’t know if that takes away from those who don’t want to declare their public sites.

Out of 66 obvious PublicIDs, fell 40 websites

This test is going great. I was able to stream the Blender movie at bam.savage.safenet, not totally smooth but pretty good. And http://lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala.piluso.safenet … lol. New best site on the net.

I’ve also added a public site, mirroring a github project of mine:
http://ko-live-edit-template.eggmunkee.safenet/

There are some Content Security Policy errors in the console when it runs though so it’s javascript doesn’t function normally. Anyone know what these are about? It sounds like it has to do with the headers being sent in the response to the browser.

One example:
Content Security Policy: Interpreting self as a hostname, not a keyword. If you intended this to be a keyword, use ‘self’ (wrapped in single quotes).

I don’t understand the detail of that but it seems to force good practice and avoid some risk of XSS attacks.
So, you just need to put scripts and css to a separate file and link to them.

Thanks, I appreciate you pointing me there. It is a little like we’re running all our sites off of the same server with one setup. I will give that a try.

Just wanted to point out to the team that my DELETED files are not being represented in my Launcher Stats. I’ve deleted numerous private files as well as created and deleted published sites and Launcher still says 0 Deletes. Next round i may actually count tit for tat each of my uploads and downloads (which seems to be accurate to me). Thank you!

Someone may have pointed it out, but you can’t update files, only delete and re-add. And the deletes are not showing in the launcher dashboard like @Nigel said.

Any chance the moderators could create a new topic for passwords/security and move the non-TEST 7 items to there? This thread has really been hijacked and, for those want to read about TEST 7 status, it is becoming increasingly difficult to wade through the unrelated stuff.

Please use the flag button underneath a certain post to notify the moderators  If you ask it like this we need to stumble upon such a post to get our attention.

EDIT: You can also use @ moderators so every mod will get a notification (@moderators)

I had the SAFE Network running smooth on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS all day. Everything is just working alright. Man I love this.

A little feedback. Right now the Demo app says the above when your not logged in or created an account. Maybe it would help, if it would say: Access denied: Create an account with your Launcher or Login your Launcher and restart the Demo app.

Some people might not be aware (I’m talking about myself here, if I wasn’t testing) and might restart the demo app again with the same result (heck they might not even read before they want to get on the SAFE Network).

… especially given that the Launcher doesn’t pop-up, at least not on Linux.

I wonder if the Launcher could use taskbar pop-up notifications that would make it easy to find the launcher for confirming the apps. A column of title SAFE: Confirm app? and two easy to punch buttons =[Yes] / [No].

Vaults are quite easy, double click (on Windows) and most of the time within seconds you’re connected to 30 or 40 other Vaults. Including several encryption layers

EDIT: That’s when they’re released :yum:
