I follow Martin Armstrong for these things and part of his ‘solution’ is zero taxation…which i really think the US is/was heading towards. Zero taxation, governments creates money by spending on all things Public, bypassing the central banking system.
Where were probably headed regardless is fully digital money, so if you want taxation as the basis for government income then I would surmise every transaction is scalped to meet revenue.
If they allowed Safe into the system, then scalp every transaction in/out at point of exchange.
Well we better form a nice decentralized anarchist community on the Safe Network and start building some rockets so we can claim ourselves some planets.
Amazing video @JimCollinson. Regarding the vocabulary, it makes real sense. SAFE and ‘EARN’ are slam-dunks IMHO, whereas Safe Network Token could work if not ideal. Things I don’t like are that token implies (connotes) indivisible (as does coin). Token also implies indirect monetary value whereas coin implies direct (although this may not be accurate in the case of SAFE). Safe Network Balance? (I believe XSB is available!?, but XNT is also good). On reflection though, balance of what?. There is more linguistic space here to play with… coins go in vaults and pay for services, but tokens, chits, balance, receipts, scrip, bottle caps, etc. have been used as currency terms forever. The name is important but not decisive.
Glad to see the consultant is of immediate use again
Means of exchange will become obsolete when we don’t require exchange to get all the goods we want out of thin air… but until we invent replicators we will still need a means of exchange or at least a clearing house.
Solving scarcity is half the problem, the other half is the distribution of the resources, and that will still remain an issue even with “an abundance of resources”.
If monero wanted to simply be “truly decentralized and not belonging to any country” they could have chosen any other symbol. Those who want to conform to the ISO 4217 format, they do it for a specific reason: they want to signal they are serious about becoming a legitimate currency.
(but the truth is like looking at a teenager wearing a suit and expecting/demanding to be treated as an adult, but we are slowly getting there…)
Putting the X at the start as the ticker was previously to me based on fluff, but now I know is based on what you note here, which didn’t know. I think I like it for the Safe Network. After all, there’s been 14+ years of work put into this, so disguising it as part of the crowd after it’s been silently forming that whole time should make people realize it’s the best—not knowing where the heck it came from, and shortly abandon all other functionality in the decentralized/distributed sphere of influence after being content with everything they need in their digital life existing in the Safe Network.
I also like @piluso’s name of [Lockbox Safe] “Safe Tokens”, since it jives with that Lockbox Safe aesthetic that’s now been provided by what was once called Accounts.
Combining these two ideas, you have XST as the ticker. …Which is already taken by Stealth, whatever that is, which I just looked up. (Well, it would’ve sounded nice being similar to the word ecstasy when spelled out loud, lol.)
There are so many tickers already taken, unfortunately, which is the only drawback of coming up with new lexicon in certain cases (though of course old terms have also been usurped by other things). XSNT doesn’t appear to be taken, so thinking of a 4 letter ticker could be the best bet. (I’m not sure if certain “Xxy[z]” tickers are based on dead projects, and would take a bit of searching, and don’t know if it’d still be wise taking on their ticker?)
Is there a word for a universal money system that doesn’t exist yet? Dollar, Euro, Franc, Yen, Pound: all national, all highly influential—so what about international? Any form of international fiat that is akin to the connotation of the aforementioned six, that comes up with a new name, would be the most corrupted currency likely. But SN’s ideal(s) would allow a healthy international method, like a form of cybernetic barter.
Funds? Safe Funds? Cybs? Barter? Ter? Tir? Something completely unique based on natural sounding syllables? Maybe it can have a different name depending on your culture. Or, ask all cultures to pitch all possible names/syllables, and then universally agree on the best sounding one(s) (combinations) regardless of origination. This could be a cool nod towards something culturally etc. unique that aligns with everything and has no egoistic stake in the matter. Safe Shares? (I as an individual am limited, so that cultural effort could go a long way.) Ant communication terminology? Lucre?
They used Mono for Esperanto as the most universal latin sound, but I guess Monero and XMR have that one sewn up. Think ‘credits’ may be a good remaining term.
