Potential Exchange Listings

I support it.
As for paying im unsure, I’m happy at trex, but to support the community I’d maybe help out.
But we just got a new exchange, that I think is open to US people, and isn’t really being used, I wonder if there is much point.

I’m not a trader myself, but I feel I don’t know enough about the people behind the exchange. I also think Maidsafe should be the ones deciding. It’s not just about the traders’ money, but about the reputation of the MAID token and the company Maidsafe.

Well, it’s only been a week thus far, and I can’t say that all that much marketing has gone into supporting the Altilly listing. I’m going to suspend judgment on volume of usage for at least a few weeks more.

I hear you on this and am largely inclined to agree. However, given how lean the MaidSafe team is now, I think they’ll be leaning on the community for marketing activities like this. If of course @MaidSafe wants to weigh in and veto or support this, then we’d have to take that into account.

The exchange is not large enough compared to HitBTC or Bittrex, it don’t seem worth time or money.

Never heard of it and can’t find info about it in coingecko. What is the strategic plan to choose that exchange?

We’re close to getting on CMC. We meet their volume reqs and they recently requested some API updates from us which we should have to them by end of 2020. So I don’t anticipate it to be long. For now you can find us on CoinRanking, should be in the top 100 exchanges listed there.

As for strategic advantage, we offer the ability to structure a market with a traditional orderbook setup but with decentralized operations. It gives you the market making precision of a CEX without the heavy security risk. There’s certainly nothing wrong with liquidity pool models as well (like one would find with uniswap), just consider with LPs that the price has a high dependency on the levels of liquidity being provided. Because our market making model has high precision, it’s not so dependent on large levels of liquidity being provided.

Regarding hitbtc, my opinion of them is not good. You can refer to cointelligence for a deeper dive. Bittrex i’ve always liked.

I’m all for getting on more exchanges, especially being from the US. I just don’t know enough about the details of the different options and how this fits into the bigger picture. If the rest of the community thinks this is good I’m in and would be happy to contribute a bit to help get the ball rolling.

I’d support to list on polarity but it’s not the best time for funding this for me. In the start of the new year would be a different story. Edit unless it’s a small amount. That I can do.

You make some good points about HitBTC and orderbooks vs pools, I respect that and it feels genuine. I would never use HitBTC if I have other options, orderbooks are for trading and pools are best for swimming.

I think we need alot more thinking and information to be able to decide about listing.
Have someone posted an link to the exchange yet?

The results of the poll on whether to list on Polarity are largely polarized. While 52% of people indicated they are in favor of listing on Polarity, only about half of those would support covering the listing fee. Moreover, almost half of all respondents need more information or do not support the listing.

As there is a lack of clear support (beyond a simple majority) and in light of the recent Altilly “hack”, I don’t think listing on another small, relatively untried exchange is the appropriate move right now. If anyone feels strongly that we should pursue listing on Polarity at this time, please share your thoughts as well.

To show the opposite view, that could be reframed to say that a majority support the listing. Only one in five are against it. And something like 5-6 of the 21 total voters are willing to put money toward it.

Wouldn’t it then come down to how much were those 5-6 people willing to put in and whether that amount would fulfill the fees?

You reference the altilly hack, but arent they a totally centralized exchange? Wouldn’t that be an argument in favor of Polarity? It’s certainly not an argument in favor of a bigger centralized exchange, as they pretty much all get hacked.

I think it’s more that people would feel comfortable with a large reputable exchange that would at least honor any losses. I voted for polarity. I also was in favor of altilly because I feel like the situation is kind of desperate but @anon28980808 is right that it just makes things worse. I think polarity is a better option than altilly but that seemed like a better than nothing option because it was at least functioning with a lot of altcoin listings and also free. The waiving of listing fees might have been one of the obvious signs that they themselves were desperate to get money to flow into their exchange.

Shitty situation all around and it’s now come down to pointing fingers, being even more cautious and selective. I’m looking forward to MAIDe the most.

Frankly, the above reply was a little too brief for my liking. Links and clear info on the Polarity website itself would inspire more confidence. This reply makes me think CFO might be John Smith.

@DeusNexus How is the MAIDe testing coming along? No pressure. LOL

I had some headaches with getting full node running but that’s about to finish. The smart contract is as good as ready and can be rolled out as we speak on the real ethereum network but to get everything working the swap needs to be in place.
