Really glad to see you trying to help out those who must be let go. All the maidsafe staff whose names I know have cared and contributed and it would be painful to see the all too typical heartless behaviour. I do wish to give my very best to those on the unfortunate side of this shift.
In the end, I firmly believe this project to be too important to allow it to fail because of indecisiveness or inattention to the viability side of things … doing what needs to be done, with a human touch, is what I expect of the company. The transparency, is, as a matter of course, second to none. And it shows in the community response, and in the response of your employees and advisors and prospective community creditors.
It is natural to be fearful, but on reflection is is good that these actions are being taken now and not when it is too late. I think the crypto bust has been harder and longer than many suspected and it is hard to plan around it.
I am grateful for maidsafe for explaining the situation too. It can’t be easy to make these tough decisions, let alone share the conclusions. However, maidsafe have shown again and again that they aim for transparency and will communicate difficult messages when required.
I’d like to thank those who are not going to continue with the journey at this time. Your efforts will have contributed to something hugely worthy and I have little doubt that such talented individuals will have no issues finding new work.
To me, this illustrates the tenacity of a small businesses with big ambitions. There is always a way forward when there is strength of conviction. Restructured, refocused and pushing for delivery.
Fleming will calm a lot of nerves and will be an enormous milestone. I suspect that will be the turning point for when the fortunes of those involved in this project will start to look up - the belief that it can be done will be visible to all.
Now that this is all in the open, the team can return to focussing on delivery. I’m looking forward to more test nets proving the technology, followrd by a march to profitability. Keep it up folks!
Not every single person is an engineer. Have a re read with the context that people like Dug and Nadia are still there.
What David said is that they are not having a in house marketing team, but he didn’t say no one to coordinate marketing.
Also Jim is not an engineer (IIRC) and a UX guy and specifically mentioned.
So it needs to be read with the knowledge the context is not necessarily what you are reading it with. But context is specific to a particular part of the company structure being talked about.
The way i understood it (and willing to be corrected) is that
No inhouse marketing team, but nothing stopping marketing coordination by one or two or three people
Still have office manager (maybe others) to run the specifics needed for non-programming needs. EG wages, HR functions
have engineering staff doing the programming for product release since no research needed now and no (just) library building.
UX staff to handle the UX side. Jim specifically mention to head that
Don’t worry folks, the price of bitcoin will go to $500k and then Maidsafe will have plenty of money … else John McAfee will put his ****** where his mouth is:
lol … no matter what happens, I trust David to get the job done. This is his life’s work and he’s an intelligent and dedicated man. IMO, moreso than John McAfee.
Best wishes to the team members that are leaving. Thank you for helping to create a network that empowers its users.
The focus on critical tasks will result in efficient production. I hope that the remaining team will have the skill and resources to conduct thorough testing and quality assurance. This will be vital to preserving the network’s reputation. And that is what will ultimately market this project.
This post is not entirely correct and has misleading information - see further down for correct info
Removed the post so as not to confuse anyone reading this later on. You can see my blunder of a post by clicking the edit pencil on RHS next to my name
This topic was all about the team producing the product and not the TOTAL company. I doubt I am mistaken but if I am then the context is misleading
