MaidSafe Loan Opportunity - APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED!

As far as I can remember, David has about 300k shares, which equals 30 million MAID. Provided we receive from his money I do not believe he will give them all to us. Even if MaidSafe then returns them to him…

Remember that it is David’s future income from the project that is being thrown around, so be mindful of that before we get carried away.

It has to be balanced between what will be good for the company and how much David loses from future income.

In the end David will be working all this out and deciding what he wants to do.

I don’t mean to be critical of David, but it seems like a better approach to this “loan opportunity” would have been to allow everyone interested to participate. Not just those people who have the time to sit by their computer everyday and read updates, etc. from Maidsafe, so that they were the first and only ones who were able to participate. It would have been just as easy to allow everyone who wished to participate to have say a week to email their wish to participate and with how many coins. And if after a week, for example, 20 million coins had been offered for loan, then accept 1/2 of each person’s offer in order to arrive at the 10 million David asked for. In that way, everyone would have had an opportunity instead of this mad bum’s rush to get your email sent. And everyone, including those who had held their coins just as long as everyone else, but who can’t follow the updates hourly, would have been given the opportunity to participate. Seems more fair.

Just a suggestion. As you said, it’s David’s choice.

Well, looks like I also missed this.
Really glad it was such a great success.

I think no one expected it to be such a succes. I actually thought it would be very difficult to get that amount of coins, so everyone had a chance

Maybe so regarding the expectation of success. But not everyone had a chance to participate. In fact, only those that literally follow the updates by the hour had a chance. It closed that quickly.

Not usually the case how that works. It takes awhile for programmers to acclimate to new jobs generally and settle in and become solid producers, many times 2+ months. If MaidSafe is happy with the size of the engineering team now and is confident they have the skills necessary or are willing to learn to solve all the aspects of this network its best to keep the team small and easier on David to manage them and understand pain points etc. Plus you want to retain top talent so less engineers = more income for the good ones sticking around.

It seems that we really are a community of hodlers. Bags of coins laying around the place, ready to be dropped.

10,000,000 coins in under 24 hours.
Imagine how much more is out there silently reading this forum and hodling. Wow.

Problem is we surpassed that in the first evening. The process was stopped with over 26million already pledged. If we have let it run then God knows what that amount would be then the hassle, disappointment and so on. Reminded me of the crowdsale, super fast, exciting and terrifying as well.

I think this time we probably got it right, it was over quickly but I think we will disappoint way less people this way. Who knows really? There are millions of ways to do all these things. I suppose as long as it is honest and fair then it’s good. It could go on longer and perhaps be more fair, or less, depending on your viewpoint.

Anyway, we are where we are and we will make a call Monday how to proceed. All great news and again humbling.

Sorry I’m not being very clear in what I’m proposing. My suggestion is the following. Let’s say you had let the subscription run for a week and “loan offers” of 50 million coins had come in. If all you need is 10 million, then take everyone’s offer and give them 1/5 of their offer. You would have your 10 million coins and each person would have been allowed to participate fairly.

No I understand, but it can still disappoint as well. Folk then would claim first come first served is better if you see what I mean. It’s all horses for courses. I think there are many such routes, pro rata’d with a base and so on.

Holy sh*t. There is no stopping us with that level of support.

There remain alsorts of associated opportunities… the biggest of which is buying new MAID from the market, which will help most of all… and is to my mind an equal prospect for return.

Running it for a week would have added to everyones anxiety… done and dusted quickly, seems ideal. Those who got to jump in time, could equally have missed out.

I think that depends on your decision. Whether you’d choose the “first come first served” option or the “many people as possible” ones, users would still be happy. People wouldn’t get 50% on 100k tokens but, hey that’s still better than nothing. Just my 2 cents
But yeah, 26 million… damn things could be rapidly getting out of control

 +:clap::clap: for the kids who participated, thank GOD that you still believe in the project.
