Thanks for the explanation. So the script-kiddie attacker mostly just maxes out his own Internet connection, by continually retrieving files from his own group, since there’s 32 of them and one of him.
What you’re saying sounds right to me but the funny part is people will be getting paid big time for this (farmers holding unpopular data). It may strain ones bandwidth and make it quite irritating for those with a slow connection but if the reward is right i imagine people saying hey set up this client I’m making money on it just sitting there and bringing in more folks in affect bolstering the network and creating less strain.
So based on the update at Discuss Proposed - 0016-launcher-data-types-api · Issue #77 · maidsafe/rfcs · GitHub that RFC is indeed stale and it was not really necessary for review. I look forward to @Krishna_Kumar’s upcoming RFC’s.

I hadn’t thought of it from this point of view, but yeah, this type of attack would only serve to make the network stronger. Sounds like a lose lose attack to me. Well, win win i guess. Depends what side you’re on.

Which I have hanging up in my living room - pride of place. We also have a @we_advance Ant diagram / flow chart in the office by the coffee machine which is the busiest bit of wall anyone can see, so again pride of place.

Every now and again I find some time to do some testing - I have been looking at:
- safe_launcher-v0.4.1-linux-x64.zip
- maidsafe_demo_app-linux-x64.zip
On the first attempt to upload a dir:
3.7M /home/phil/txts
299 files
Using account “pricom”:
-
Uploading jammed on 71% - still there after 24 hours
-
Restarted, some texts uploaded (neglected to count how many)
-
Deleted txts dir - could never upload any more dirs but could upload
individual files
I tried another couple of times with similar results but remembering to look at the launcher log - see attached file.
It seems I am getting different errors at the time the upload fails at 71% - is there an explanation for this problem?

Did you check the nut that starts the safe launcher?

Ok. It has probably already been mention, but what is contained in the SAFE MVP? I think you should exclude Safecoin from the MVP and offer a free beta SAFE network.
