Well they need 8 million dollars as that was their original funding goal if you do some digging or read the first post again. They fell slightly north of that goal due to Mastercoin liquidity issues and btc drop netting only 1.4 mil out of 8. So they scaled back, still delivered with smaller team despite such insane underfunding and now would like to sell some coins they still have at umm x3 market cap from original crowdsale price (which we should all be thankfull for as its due to their effort) to raise another million+ to complete this project, getting them closer to 2.5-3mil total funds raised out of original 8, which from current track record we know they can perform miracles with and dont need to be scrutinized by anyone any further IMHO

Those are not just āsome coins they still haveā. These coins have always been questioned. ItĀ“s a bold move to sell them in order to generate value. And yes, I believe scutiny is crucial - this doesnĀ“t have to do with my distrust in the team, but with the need to compensate distrust due to the sell-off. Even though for people like me the delay of the project is fully understandable, for many others it is not, so simply referring to the positive track-record isnĀ“t sufficient imho.
I also donĀ“t see the problem with being fully transparent on Maidsafeās human ressources policy. The team and the community can only win from exposing their ambitious plans.

yepā¦ and could it create tax implications. Trickier still is the revenue source. Accounting firms have yet to create a āgot it by mistakeā column on an āincome/P&L statementā.

Iām just listening to the final part of SAFE Crossroads podcast with David I. youāve just got to love the openness here, regards the finances, the crowdsale etc and the beliefs and values upon which they make their decisions; many decisions which are greatly informed by us, because thatās what they want: collaboration, transparency and our ongoing support and constructive criticismā¦
So strangely I find this latest bombshell of a 2nd crowdsale now actually really quite confidence buildingā¦ it goes to show - itās not what you do, itās how you do itā¦

It seems that Maidsafe is going to be ok, given these token sales. David indicated possible Kickstarter type campaigns to monetize future side projects after the Alpha stages.
Not sure what the outside perception would be if Maidsafe started soliciting donationsā¦maybe not so good if your looking for partners.
I would rather approach the original investors (in Maidsafe Ltd) and offer an incentive to reinvest some of their MAID.
Nothing wrong in having a donation address on your website though.

Timing is crucial.
If you can get the MVP out before selling any of those coins, then surely you will get more for them.
I donāt like the idea of a death march without a very clear goal.
Hereās an off-the-wall idea (some might say absurd and outrageous. I would call it lateral thinking, this 
): Suggest to the intelligence agencies that SAFE would be great for them, and they might kick in a few quid. Pitch it differently to each side (the US gov would be interested in something that breaks the GFC); and they all would like somewhere to hide their communications. Tor has always been funded by the US gov all along for that latter reason.

those dumps where one guy that sent 5 million coins to polo within the last week ā¦ he was dumping all the time and was planning on dumping those 3 million coins lately anyway - no matter what news would come outā¦ now they probably are sold - price can go up now
so we are not talking about āmarket reactionā but about the reaction of one guy who maybe dumped faster than planned in advance ā¦
iād say for 5 million within a week (and those millions within the week before) price is pretty robust 
Now just have in mind the coins from MS are not wasted but invested in bounties, PR and i donāt know what ā¦ iām positive it was a wise decision that was made here
