They told me that’s not the case. Note that they said it’s “at least” until February 28, it’s not a hard deadline. Apparently withdrawals will be open longer than that.
I sincerely hope so.
At the time of the medium post (approx 4 hours ago) these were the balances of bittrex and chainrift. Let’s see what happens over the next weeks.
chainrift 2,574,859 1DBZY4dpTy6M7twApP7iqBzBW3zpNhd9WG
bittrex 26,999,225 1DUb2YYbQA1jjaNYzVXLZ7ZioEhLXtbUru
Got my MAIDS.
You know… it’s a strange feeling. Complete belief in this project, i’m very comfortable sitting on my tokens even if current available exchanges are not available. I’m only upset I cannot buy more - a) I don’t have the funds b) I don’t know where to go when I do have the funds.
Just buy on Bittrex maybe?
Once again we get burned wasting effort on exchanges that fall though. We have Bittrex and that sketchy HitBTC right? Can’t we just tend to point people at Bittrex and secondary HitBTC if they have to?
I think it would be worthwhile to approach an exchange like Kraken too if anyone in the team has bandwidth so we can tap into US customer base/a reputable exchange, I believe their webapp can support OMNI protocol. I think Binance.US and Binance are probably out of question, I am sure they are greedy and wanting an insane amount of money + liquidity to list even still today.

Personally I would hope Bittrex + HitBTC alone can give us enough liquidity to reach the delivery of this network. And if it can’t, well then it took too long to deliver an MVP sadly over the years and interest starts to dry up from the crypto-community as a whole when networks are not live, tough love statement but I believe it true. BTC(Whitepaper 2008, live 2009)/ETH(Whitepaper 2013, live 2015) and neither gained any interest until there was a product to show. If network gets delivered and it works well then I think there will be the best hope here. I know plenty will feel free to object how we need to ramp up marketing get on more exchanges and spread the good word about the project and grand visions, but imo that is what s&#^coins do. Just heads down engineering with small updates every now and then should hopefully give us a network. This project has long suffered at coming up with very small iterative dependency deliverables reaching v1.0 forms that can be tested and confirmed by 3rd parties from a cryptography perspective and networking perspective. Likely due to scope creep and pivots in dependencies, code language pivots, and clashing opinions. Sorry just venting a bit, guess reading this thread updates put me in a bad mood.
Bisq is a small exchange in terms of BTC volume however the community/values are very aligned with SAFE Network.
Adding a listing is pretty simple and involves a pull request and some basic info from project leadership. Full docs here:
https://docs.bisq.network/exchange/howto/list-asset.html
The Monero community has done a lot of trading there and quite possibly exceed even BTC/fiat trades, at least in some months.
Possibly MAID community could do something similar and at least have Bisq to fallback on if centralized exchanges don’t work out.
Same boat
If we do end up going a community-funded airdrop route, I’d have to send in BTC to be converted to MAID…
Ok who is bored, knows Java and can make a PR?
https://docs.bisq.network/exchange/howto/list-asset.html
I think we satisfy all the pre-reqs
Let’s not forget Changelly, not great for trading but fine for a buy… beggars cant be choosers.
Also I have been using Mercatox a bit lately. No Binance for sure but I believe they are based in the UK.
Perhaps they will be partial to helping out a Scottish project.
Just saw the summary email and was happy Maid had a new home only to find out the exchange is gone now. Roller coaster of emotions here! This may have already been mentioned, where can we get maid now?
Be careful with Changelly. A lot of people don’t open an account with them, but instead use them through the various wallets they are integrated into. That means you think you’re good, and don’t need KYC/AML, but then the day comes and you do a largish (over $500, perhaps) change. The deposit happens, but you never get your converted coins. Upon investigation, you find out they need to KYC/AML you. So you send them your identification. That’s when you find out they actually don’t accept USA customers and so you’re screwed.
Terms of Use - Changelly ← Section 4.1.3
They did allow me my coins back, but it was a stressful few days. So if you’re in the USA, keep your Changelly transactions small.
Sorry guys that we could not be of service to you guys for very long. We failed to generate enough volume to cover our costs. We are still fans of Maidsafe project, and we wish you all success!
I hope, as a software company, you don’t forget us. It will be very interesting here after a year or two
Operating costs of having to securely store user data, credentials, etc will be very low or a none issue in the SAFE network. Since you guys are fans and have experience, maybe the first DEX on SAFE?? SAFERift?
Edit: Scratch that name. I’d name it SAFU because it fits the descriptor of SAFE and it’d get CZ’s (of binance fame) goat. It’s a phrase he uses often and became a bit of a meme amongst traders. SAFU exchange would get memed like crazy on crypto twitter.
Make sure your funds are #SAFE&SAFU
Given the issues related to exchanges in general, I’d suggest SNAFU instead.
Found this previous post back on Oct 2019 about Bisq and BlockDx. They’re both great decentralised exchanges. Hope it can be useful
BloclDx has almost no activity and Bisq, of which I am a user, is not a exchange that can replace a traditional one. It could be, in any case, a complement.
And it is to repeat the same thing over and over again, but there are only two solutions: A big exchange (and Binance seems the only viable option) or the Omni-ERC20 duality.
Maidsafe’s paralysis on this issue is beginning to affect this project.
@digipl what do you think of the WMAID idea? We will not burden the company with it and we can act immediately as a community?
I’m not convinced this is a solution. One of the big advantages of this project is that there is a legal company behind it so I think any solution should involve Maidsafe.
Another thing is that some supporters will help as much as possible or even do most of the work required.
