Quite a let down indeed. It did seem like the exchange was struggling to gain traction. I think this is an opportunity for Maidsafe to build a relationship with a more established exchange. While some of these newer smaller exchanges (Chainrift, Bitker, etc.) may be well-intentioned, they simply donāt have viable operational chops.
Has MaidSafe explored opportunities to list on any of the following exchanges: Huobi, Kucoin, Kraken and/or Binance?

WE are talking with them. They wanted us to do an airdrop, but we said no. So letās see.
In the past I am sure there were approaches, I was not involved in them though.

While any of these would be amazing, I feel we donāt have the volume for them to even consider listing as worthwhile, and it made even less attractive because itās a temporary token.
My hope is the test nets go well and we get a very minimal safe network with safecoin support soon, even if file storage isnāt included. It would make the project far more attractive to exchanges.
That or accept we are years away, and offer a ERC-20 token.

Thatās great to hear! What are the biggest challenges for MaidSafe to do an airdrop? Iām wondering if itās anything the community could help address. If not (I.e. technical constraints), totally understand.
18 months ago MAID trade volume was in excess of $2M daily. Itās been even higher than that in the past as well. Given where the project is now and will be (hopefully) soon with Flemingās release, I think this is the perfect time to get MAID listed on one or some of these exchanges.

Itās giving away maidsafecoins to a new market. So the coins themselves that we just took on loan would be required. Itās just better if maidsafe or any person does not have to give away coins. We are looking at alternatives though, still donāt know what though.

Understood. If it comes to it, and it would help for the community to donate coins for this (I.e. without any payback requirement), Iād be all for it.

Itās always an idea for some of us. Need to watch tax, in the UK you would need to pay tax on coins you give away (mental, but true, itās considered a disposal and taxed as though you sold for cash). So itās not really free to give if that makes sense.

This is normal because otherwise people will lie that they are giving something away and selling it under the table.
But luckily this is not the case in Bulgaria, so I can organize such an AirDrop, with a little help

We are always going to need exchanges, even after the safenetwork launches. Binance has already built itself as a high volume exchange, and the have many fiat on ramps as well. Would a BEP2 token be a good idea? at todays prices of BNB listing would be around Ā£55k if what I read about needing ~2400 BNB is correct (maybe confirm with Binance). But to have access to that kind fo fiat gateway and decentralized exchange for that price. Seems like a bargain to me. One that would be a wise investment into the future of this network.

Thatās insaneā¦ What if the community gave the coins to the Foundation, which is a NPO? Wouldnāt it then be tax deductible? Iām not an accountant, so just tossing out a thoughtā¦

In my opinion, the DeFi world on ethereum will crush them in the long gameā¦ ERC20 MAID will be cheaper and can be included in any exchange easily, not only in Binanceā¦

It gets very murky here in the UK right now. HMRC and OSCR are finalising how all this works. Itās all just crazy really. Loans are OK but any gain is taxed, thatās all good, but give aways are taxed at full rate. This is why I have an issue when I put in 300btc to the company when I had some. Now I have a serious personal bill, although, I am currently in negotiations, but itās pure hell to work out what way they will go, but looks like any move is a disposal right now. (EDIT and may be backdated to start of crypto)

Maybe we need a mixture of both?
BEP2-SAFE could be consider as simply a FIAT on/off a ramp for the network? I dunno at the end of the day itās up to David.
The need for exhanges wonāt disappear after the we get safecoin. And for safecoin to become the standard it will take time for that momentum to gather.
I donāt see doing nothing as an option though the environment is becoming far more competitive.

Yikes! It might be better for everyone then if itās structured as an extremely low interest loan then to the point where the interest is negligible. Madness like this almost makes me want to be a libertarianā¦
