MAID AWAY (MAID giveaway) Do YOU want to participate?

People have made comments that they don’t want to give away money to crypto-people or that it won’t attract new community developers.

The reason for me wanting to support this proposal spells survival. We are in a negative trend despite test net progress and that worries me in the short term, until we can push the message of a fully working test net. Our project have taken a very long time and people may forget about us.

It might be good to try and make the proposed suggestion just to remind people that we are still here, alive and kicking. So that we don’t become forgotten. But I also have some reservation as I don’t see us as the project who makes “giveaways”, we should be the project that delivers a new awesome p2p internet. Sometimes you just have to throw everything you believe in and just play the game that you can’t control, but it is this one, this time? I don’t know right now.

Rather than a giveaway, I rather remind people we exist when we actually have a functioning first iteration full public release network. There is no time for smoke or mirrors in the crypto coin space, crypto coins already has a bad image to the public because so many projects are just shitcoins. Just hard development and reaching a full fledged e2e deliverable network that will yield intrinsic value for MaidSafe and the SAFE Coin(currently MaidSafeCoin) holders. In my mind we either deliver on it and then promote like hell after with any community or MaidSafe funding left, or run out of money trying to deliver the first network all spent on developers and paying for their cost of livings and such. I don’t see any other worthwhile approach tbh. Looking back that 2017-2018 time frame for MaidSafe expanding offices and expanding marketing seems so cringe now for how all this rework at core code components was needed, but ofc hindsight is always 2020(not the year, this year has sucked in general for everyone) and when the coin was over $1 for a time the mania must have taken hold here.

What I do now is that I keep buying more. As far as catching new souls, I no longer go beyond “I love and follow this project which…”

No way would I advise anyone to invest in any crypto anymore. I have a couple of early btc miner friends who were so overconfident during the last bubble they almost (or in some cases literally) told people they were stupid for not buying in. It was like “don’t whine if you don’t get rich like I did, it’s all your fault!”. Now they’re recluses because no matter what denial strategy they choose, they feel “I told you but it was you who did” doesn’t cut it.

So there. I keep telling people about the SAFE Network and I keep discussing the idea of P2P internet, but telling people to buy in is dangerous and, in my opinion, unethical at this point. Although you could say it’s almost impossible to shill MAID to solvent people now. They do a research, and they realize the development has been going on for long years, and they will immediately see something they want no part of. These people are rarely idealists/dreamers in the purest sense of the word, and when they are, they’re also wary of any sign they could get used and conned.

I only ever actually shilled MAID once, in early 2017, but that was to a guy who was searching for tips for a billionaire. So I didn’t give a damn whether they lose some or not. I only begged him to tell me in advance should KJ get in big time because I was not where I wanted to be at that time. Of course of course of course.

Yeah… right. I think it was Saturday the price suddenly broke the dollar ceiling. I was speechless and angry. And now it seems hilarious.

Depends on one’s conscientiousness, but giving some MAID away in hope people pump the price by getting passionate and greedy and buying more, only to fund the development which, before it’s done, is always at the stage of entropy because we never know what trouble pops up next… Seems both foolish and fraudulent. Just no.

Maybe this would also be a way of giving SAFE, but just in IOU form.

IOU1MAID redeemable on the SAFE Network

You could place these everywhere and when the time comes, make a mass payment to everybody UO.
