A giveaway offers to pull people in, but the only people SAFE can reliably pull in and keep right now are the enthusiasts and hard-cores out there. Casual finance-types aren’t interested in MAID as a coin because the news is too high level to drive reliable price swings, so it’s not abundantly clear that it’s a good investment.
We may see success in pulling in more enthusiasts, but I think then there are better, free ways we could do this since enthusiasts are more prone to gravitate towards the project anyway, with or without monetary incentive.
At best, I see a giveaway as spending money to pull in people we could’ve attracted for free. At worst, I see it shuffling around money in the existing community and doing nothing.
When SAFE news looks like “<Big corporate entity> Uses SAFE to Stop Hackers for Good” instead of “New Safe Version Simplifies Group Consensus with AT2”, then I believe a giveaway might be a good idea.
I understand and may be a dud. But that’s exactly who I’m looking for, hard core nerd types.
This entire forum is filled SAFE evangelists. Some how, some way we found our way here. Each of us makes a difference, bit-by-bit, collectively.
If I can pay 10-100$ to find another 1, 2 or 3 die hard enthusiasts, great. It’s a positive sum game for all involved.
EDIT
When marketing you want as many people on board prior to launch. Obviously this project is very different because of the time factor and the lack of launch dates. In fact, It’s probably one of the longest running campaigns that targets the consumer in modern history, that I know of anyway. The rule still applies. You bring people on board prior to launch. This works much better with a launch date, but again the rule still applies. Marketing is a lot like fishing. It’s a lot simpler than people make out.
There in lies the biggest tragedy…they thought launch was 2 years ago and hired a marketing team. Until and when we know launch it may not be impactful.
I have an open line of communication with my future self. It’s close.
I want you to be right and i hope you are right.
I will contribute when SAFE is live and we can send it for free, instantly over the network. It does nothing for adoption if they can’t do anything with it when they get it. "Oh great, it relies on BTC, takes a while to send and costs a few $/ transaction,… etc. "… that is negative marketing. Only a live demo where they can immediately turn around and use it to upload files or pay someone else is a worthwhile use IMHO. “This is cool, easy, buys me useful stuff, and I can earn it!”
There is a term in the military I am very fond of.
“Lead, follow, or get out of the way”.
Thanks for your opinion.
Just noting that I get a lot of spam of the form that looks like phishing… another one, just now
you received a payment
sender: bitcoinwallet.com
wallet: primary
amount: 0.00000005 bitcoin (0.00)
view transaction
So, if you do this, make sure that it’s engaging in a new way that is not just like all the other 1000’s of cryptos and phishing. Perhaps hook those actually interested in trying, rather than wasting money on accounts that are never used.
Also, the mock networks provide free test coin, rather take away from the idea pre-launch, as they gift the capability to play. Still, I don’t want to discourage … 1000 flowers blooming some will not be everyones interest… marketing to everyone requires alsorts.
Another idea is to not even focus your giveaway money on new recruits. Give money to the people on this forum who are already working hard. Instead of paying people and trying to get them to work, look for someone who has earned your money already.
It doesn’t need to be MAID. I send all my earnings from the Brave browser to @Dimitar to help support his work.
You can help too by using Brave and tipping regularly.
As we say in Scotland “Every mickle maks a muckle” Lots of wee stuff all adds up
I use the Brave browser! Maybe I have earnings too. How do I send them to Dimitar?
check Brave rewards from your menu on the right hand side
Turn on ads from earnings. You can set up “auto contribute” and other options - I dont bother, I simply hit the wee triangle at the end of the address bar when I am on safenetforum.org and send a tip.
I tried brave browser it seemed OK at first but then it got annoying.
Brave browser is really clever. They get rid of other people’s annoying ads and replace them with annoying ads of their own.
But it looks like you get paid in BAT to watch these ads and then you can send the tip money to Dimitar so he can continue his SAFE network promotion. That’s what Southside is doing.
Or maybe Dimitar goes to his local Bulgarian winery with that money and has a good time! You just never know for sure.
doesn’t drink … But can you really trust a person who doesn’t drink??!
No, you can not. (Teetotaler here)
Hmm, it’s starting to get very shady with two sobers … it looks like a pyramid to me…
I don’t drink either. I trust you Dimitar if you don’t drink, but if you are a liar you might lie about that too.
Anyway I sent you a small tip. It’s not even enough for one beer.
Drop by drop the ocean rises. In this case 114,35 Euro which I have not yet spent because apart from being Teetotaler and a liar, I’m lazy human being and I don’t want to write a report to the community so I prefer to spend my own money
