The main goal is to create a search engine which uses the SAFE network as a backend and allows people to privately search for information on both the traditional internet and the SAFE network. Beyond the obvious benefit of “cheap” storage, we envision a system which replaces or supplements traditional automated web crawlers with individuals who earn a coin by “harvesting” website data while they browse and/or by installing specialized software. Bottom line is it’s possible but will need a new approach. Only public data (ie where the encryption keys are made available) will be searchable. Private data will not be.

I reeeeelly want to know who is going to tackle this one. They could get huge revenue from this. From a first lovers advantage perspective this would be the most used app on the network.

Is SAFE-FS supposed to do something like this? I assumed SAFE-FS was a way of storing info publicly for all to search. Not quite a search engine but very useful nonetheless.
