As I understand, nothing will ever be deleted from the network. I get that there’s a lot of storage out there and that hard drives will keep improving. But will progress keep up with the network? Surely after 200 years there’s got to be a lot of crap on the network. Probably more crap than all the information we have today combined. Is there going to be a mechanism for ever removing content that’s not accessed in a really long time?

Good question. I would like to hear an answer to this as well. One thing to note is that there are 2 data types on the network, mutable and immutable. I would expect that the mutable could be erased. Like you I think that data that is unused for x number of years should be sent to archive drives, we could call it the attic. When uploading the data you could opt into the attic feature for a small fee or upload with the knowledge that after x number of years the data will disappear. Hopefully someone who knows more than I do will chime in.

A lot has changed in 12 months with MAID. Can anyone summarize this in one sentence? Storage may be one of the big attractions and the links provided are great but they are dated. Can the dated info be trusted?
