[How To]: Buy/Move/Store OMNI MAID :safe: hardware and software wallets

This is good to know. I have not upgraded my firmware, yet. Sounds like I should hold off on that.

Please, if you successfully downloaded it, write to me to add it to the how to :dragon:

@amaizenblue do you also use a model T?

Yes. I also have a Nano S, but am having trouble getting into it because I haven’t used it in a couple years; not too worried about it, there’s nothing on it, but would like to have it for coins that the Trezor does not support. I’ll figure it out.

If you keep your seed words, just reset it. I reseted and moved the private keys from my Trezor One to my Ledger Nano S and vice versa over 70 times while playing with Hex…

I can log into the hardware easily enough; I think I just need to update the software on my computer. I haven’t spent much time on it, because I haven’t needed to use it for anything, yet. But I do have the seed words, so I can try the reset, too.

What advantage is there to switching when dealing with Hex?

Thanks for all the advice guys, will give this a go later today.

There is no advantage. Unless you have 2 friends who do not have money for a hardware wallet at the moment, but want to buy Hex with your help and for this purpose you play for 2 months with 3 seeds to claim Hex for yourself and for them every day… :see_no_evil:

Perfect! all coins present and accounted for  Page now bookmarked. Thanks for the help (and @amaizenblue too).

For what it’s worth, I’ll respond back to Trezor support with this solution - might help avoid others being advised that the project is no more.

It’s all @Dimitar; I just followed his instructions on various threads. :sunglasses: Glad you got it worked out.

I also recently purchased a ledger for my MAID. Yes it works, and tbh in my case only because of the walk through I found here, so @ Dimitar, thank you! It’s not a smooth and user friendly process.

Hi Dimitar,
Hopefully my final question on this

I followed 1.1 noted above. When i send coins, i get the OK message box at the sign and send stage

---------------------------------------------
www.omnitrezor.com says

There was an issue completing the transaction.
See the console for details.
----------------------------------------------

On the the trezor 1, it displays a progress bar at the ā€œsigning transactionā€ stage.

Note: tried on both chrome and firefox

Any ideas?

Do you have additional bitcoin in your MAID wallet? You need that for transaction fees.

I have not tried moving any coins to omniwallet, so this is my only troubleshooting tip. Sorry.

Yeah, I stuck about Ā£10 of BTC to cover transaction fees. The error doesn’t give much to go on as it says see console which I assume means trezor screen, which only shows a progress bar.

Thanks for the tip anyway.

Ah, wait. I did practice a bit with omniwallet, and I had an issue. I’m not sure if it is the same one you are having, but I put my bitcoin in the same WALLET as my MAID, but it was at a different ADDRESS. Apologies if this is a mundane mistake that you wouldn’t overlook. If not, double check your transactions, and see if they went to different addresses. Ok, now THAT’s all I’ve got. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hey friend,

check if there is a transaction in https://omniexplorer.info/ (confirmed and unconfirmed). If there is no transaction, you can easily test everything from the beginning. And please tell us the result :dragon:

Still no cigar.

There are no unconfirmed transactions and so i’ve tried repeating the process from start to finish.

A couple of things that may be relevant.

  1. I see the following message on the omnitrezor page:

…
The current version of firmware (1.9.1) may be not compatible with the running version of Trezor Connect.

The current version of firmware contains major changes that could affect the efficient functionality of Trezor Connect.
…
I tried updating the firmware again to ensure it was at latest (1.9.1) - no joy.

  1. @amaizenblue You mentioned having BTC in the same address which i do  However, during the omnitrezor window where i enter the to and from addresses, it shows 0 BTC. I definitely do have BTC - i’ve checked many times to be sure using omniexplorer, trezor.io etc. Think it’s just a UI glitch.

I’ve tried on another machine too and also tried to send to another wallet (bittrex) - no joy.

Thanks for the help chaps, fortunately, i haven’t transferred that many over (was an initial test).

I think the only thing i can think of trying is to downgrade the firmware to a known ā€œgood pointā€ - if not know, start at 1.8.0 and go from there.

I downgraded trezor T firmware to a lower version and was able to transfer maid to bittrex.
