[How To]: Buy/Move/Store OMNI MAID :safe: hardware and software wallets

lol, ok

I just tried changelly, because I believe in your project and want to start being a part of it.
This is what they told me so far.

I’m sorry, it sucks to live in a state of freedom… I hope one day your government will allow you to spend your money wherever you choose

Perhaps I’m not on the right topic? Maybe someone can give me some guidance?

Now that I’ve recovered my MAID, and expect to be able to exchange them for BTC…

When I sell the BTC for fiat, do I have to go to someplace like Coinbase.com to sell? After which I want to send the $US to a (TransferWise) account I have in the UK, which I don’t think Coinbase can do for me?

How would you guys do that?

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum for this question? I ask only because my coins are MAID and I want to reduce them to fiat, so I don’t know where else to inquire.

You can do it with crypto.com

It was suggested to me that you can exchange to/from MAID on Changelly if you have a ip address outside of the USA.

If you have a regular bank account you should have no issue withdrawing fiat from any big exchange.

I am deciding whether to move my old funds stored on paper wallets into my Trezor T and I am gaining the knowledge to not do anything stupid. Your advice is NOT to use legacy addresses. When reading some non-trezor workflow from @mav, I am getting completely different advice. Maybe some of you two can elaborate?

omniwallet.org only supports legacy addresses starting with a 1

The difference is that different wallets work with different addresses:

  • Omniwallet with addresses starting with 1
  • Trezor with addresses starting only with 3 last time I tested :dragon:

Of course, the best practice is to test yourself in case things have changed and let us know.

It’s definitely possible to create legacy addresses in Trezor now. What is preferable in that case?

It has always been possible. I tried to send Maid there and then move it through their software and it didn’t detect the address when I last tested…

If you want to export your priv key and use omniwallet send your maid to an address starting with a 1.
If you want to use omni trezor send coins to an address starting with a 3.
It’s all in the few posts above yours, maybe read them.

Goodmorning, I currently have MAID stored online on Omniwallet. If I just backup my private key and store it on paper and delete the account from Omniwallet, doesn’t that create a cold storage?

If you are sure that the computer is not compromised, it will be a cold wallet.

In theory, a cold wallet is only called cold if it contains a private key that has not had access to a computer with Internet access…

So where might one go to SELL maid?
