I apologise if this specific question has already been answered, but this thread doesn’t seem to address it: as Maidsafe is writing and maintaining the code, but will also be earning coins from farming is there a mechanism that enables distributed trust and reassures other farmers that Maidsafe’s own vaults won’t have some kind of advantage with respect to rewards? I’m just wondering if people won’t be discouraged from farming if they feel the rewards could be gamed by the team writing the code.
That would be an active attack on the network really. So it’s something that we would be coding against. A key of this whole thing and why it’s difficult is that the network won’t allow different vaults to run. If a single vaults could farm faster, then it needs to take over a group at least (AFIK). So that would be an attack.
TL;DR If we could game it so can anyone, so it’s what we spend a huge majority of our efforts making impossible.
