Was sat here recently thinking that food delivery service apps and ride share apps (deliveroo, uber eats, lyft, uber etc…) are simply still too expensive compared to the value you get out of them.
Would it be possible to setup a decentralized open source application that isn’t really owned by anyone its more of a cooperative between all who use and partake in it therefore reducing the costs, drivers and customers can sign on to it and where the payment system is crypto based. Obviously coders will need to take a small fee but other than that its really just the driver deciding to charge whatever he likes and so it becomes a true marketplace?
Just a thought, and I know it’s certainly not an original one but what would the nuts and bolts of something like this look like in a general crypto technological sense but also with the SAFE Network in mind?
using Bitcoin as an example only because that community is quite large, I could easily see a bitcoin style uber taking off with little to no marketing other than community word of mouth.
It’s a tough problem but essential to a truly decentralised app and will be necessary for many different application areas.
So trust and ratings is a killer ‘app’ for decentralised systems that will unlock many possibilities. I’ve not looked at it much, but think it is very hard for anything where there is perceived value because of gaming. We see a variety of approaches (WoT, staking, captchas for example), but has anyone cracked this? I can’t wait to see what @seneca has in mind in this area, and @danda has ideas too, having worked in this kind of thing before.
The current suggestion that hospitality venues need to collect personal details has only added to the sense there are too many apps… went to get a juice the other day and couldn’t order because I didn’t have a phone… with their own unique app!
Customer loyalty bound by hassle of downloading an app is novelty but even without c19, options for apps that can support many to many customers and providers would be welcome.
