I’ll be setting this up over the weekend with, perhaps, my brother’s [developer] help.
What are first impressions? Sorry, haven’t had time to read through the whole thread. Speed seems to be main issue from what I have read, but was expected at this point…
Yes, well much closer anyway. We will never be under a microscope, but the hard graft and proofs are now in the rear view mirror. So much clearer now, not to bet on, but much simpler.
Hmmmm says that command is unknown or unsupported in the interactive shell. I’m not great with CLI but I am making progress. @Josh how did you check your logs and where should I look to see if I’m storing chunks?
Unless you are on Windows (not sure if Gitbash has it), you should run the tail command on a shell console, not the interactive CLI shell, the tail command is not a Safe CLI command.
Please don’t let the forum bully you into time estimates. Some here will never be happy no matter how close you get to meeting them. Ready when it’s ready is good enough for the 100 or so diehards that read the weekly updates.
p.s. A fun trick to keep the hall monitors, ms project types and time doomers happy:
Complete a feature to a point where it is ready for release.
Announce that the feature will be realeased in two weeks.
Go on vacation for a week to get some rest & relaxation.
When you get back from vacation, announce that the feature is being released a week early.
p.s.s. Having today be Test Fleming day is fabulous. It really made my day. Thank you team Maidsafe!
I was wrong but now I can just node join in the interactive shell and watch the log output in my regular terminal! I’m not in, yet but I am getting the TryJoinLater message which is good. My router in previous testnets was a real bother so the fact that is working is great!
@Scorch your quick farming guide is so helpful! got me up and running quick. Thank you!
Sure, and I recognize that, but usability has to play a role, as well. In the day and age we live in of instant gratification, people wouldn’t stand for more than a ten second turnaround time to open a website, or start the stream of a show/video if streaming becomes feasible over the Safe Network.
I will say that I am encouraged by the token transfer time. Even as is, it is vastly superior to current crypto technology with speeds rivaling even the fastest current networks and without fees. Game changer. If they can manage to get that down far enough to be usable for (near) instant transactions? Oh boy… the sky is the limit with that alone.
I don’t want to come off as cynical or disparaging. What they have accomplished is amazing, and deserves the highest praise. I’m simply in a state of guarded optimism because nothing is ever a sure thing.
thank you everyone at maidsafe, its been a long and difficult wait.we are on the way to making history.its been a long 10 years but I have kept the the faith.thank you David!!!
