Wondering if the Autonomy 2.0 AI is scraping the clearnet to build an archive? Or is the plan for an app on the network to do this? Or something else entirely?
Just trying to connect the dots.

Iâve seen the source code on github - at least the Saorsa code that David has been working on; and I think that is the base of Autonomi 2.0.
There is a link or two on the forum, but you can look it up on github.
Iâm guessing they may market when everything is up and running, hereâs hoping they do some sort of media coverage.

@rusty.spork it would be helpful if there was at least one way to follow announcements that is not based on a platform that is the antithesis of everything the project is said to hold dear.
The website lists Discord, X, LinkedIn and YouTube. All are problematic and the latest revelations about how LinkedIn spies on every visitor to the site should be enough to put everyone here off ever visiting it again. But all these platforms are problematic.
Itâs fair enough to argue Autonomi need to go where people are, but it is beyond me why that means you wonât give anyone a safer alternative than some of the worst platforms out there. And appear to have abandoned the one place that was acceptable, right here.
This approach will do real harm to anyone wanting to validate whether there project means what it says.

There was a suggestion on Discord (which you wonât have seen, obvs!) that the Discord forum would be replaced with a system hosted on Autonomi itself. Which would be the dream.
So that at the least recognises the incongruity of the current situation.

Actually they have been working on that - since 2006
A recent announcement said that they were looking to move away from Discord (and Slack internally) and we would soon be eating our own dogfood.
You can take righteous righteousness too far at times.

We are working towards having a new official autonomi medium/forum - although I doubt we will ever completely leave Discord/X/YouTube as that is where a lot of people are. But for people already in the ecosystem we are excited to have a new medium soon.

In any case the general dissatisfaction with Discord was noted and is being acted upon.
Just out of pointless interest, which platform would be acceptable to the truly righteous and pure of spirit here?
And could you all agree on such?
The team are doing the best they can with the tools they have and are forced to make pragmatic decisions in the best interest of the project.
No wonder David and the rest of the team got pissed off with the attitudes expressed on here.

Cool itâs here, but it seemingly suffers from all the caveats the 1.0 had; itâs slow, buggy, user-unfriendly.
Launchpad looks cool, but all the nodes I run I had to add through CLI (0 records so far).
Files I attempt to upload through launchpad are stuck on âquotingâ. Files I attempt to upload through CLI are stuck on Connecting to autonomi network with the number of peers fluctuating to no avail.
Again; glad stuff is happening, but for now, I see no improvements at all.

Iâm probably not truly righteous and pure of spirit but I kind of like https://keet.io/ for decentralized, P2P chat. Admittedly, Iâve only used it a little bit - basically for interacting with developers regarding the Pear ecosystem. Some of what x0x is aiming for reminds me of other functionality in the Pear ecosystem (e.g. Hypercore, Hyperswarm, Hyperbee key/value storage, Autobase, etc). A downside with Pear/Keet is low adoption so far (as far as I can tell), and they by default use ED25519 (instead of post-quantum crypto).

Yes I remember keet being mentioned before.
Hopefully within weeks weâll be eating our own dogfood.
It kinda amazed me that there was not much more uptake of Atlas and Friends, both of which would have gone a long way to keeping it âpureâ.

Okay, a little bit of progress. When uploading through CLI, either Iâm stuck connecting to the network and finding peers (of which I find many), OR when having found no peers, I get a quote and the file gets an upload attempt, a no peers found message following.
Seems like a bug to me.
Thatâs the strange pattern with this project. You wait and wait and wait and wait and wait. Then, seemingly, wait is nearing its end as an imminent launch gets announced with a pomp that likely gives some people the dopamine kick of a (false) accomplishment, then more waiting, deadlines postponed and David saying things like âfolk impatient, I git it I git it, but trust us folks, we hustle like crazy, no break pedals, hardly any sleepâ.
Then at last we get this. Twelve years, a fortune cost, so much hard work (we get assured) and then â this.
One can only imagine where we would be had LLMs not gotten better at replicating code. One also has to pray LLMs get much better soon.

I think youâve just summed up not only the development of this project but all software. If not all product development and maybe the whole of human endeavour!
I think the difference is weâre getting to see and hear most of what would normally be hidden inside a company. They are letting (most of) it all hang out and we are part of what would normally be the stress testing.

Haha, I guess youâre right to en extent. More waiting. After all, folk keep that gas pedal down to the bottom, no mercy, no sleep.

David did say a number of times in the run up that this wonât be a product launch where itâs all ready to go, but youâd miss that if not following closely, and personally Iâd rather avoid the apparent over-confidence ahead of proper testing that seems to be happen frequently.
I love what theyâre building, but perhaps rather than calling it the âlaunch of Autonomi 2.0â with the expectation that itâll work from the start, calling it âPublic Autonomi 2.0 test networkâ or something would keep expectations more realistic, and a full launch can be declared when itâs got a bit of a track record with kinks worked out.
I guess everyone would do it differently, and at least theyâre actually doing it, so I donât want to be too critical even if Iâd prefer more cautious expectation management.
For now this is still a full on, cutting edge Research & Development stage project, so as long as we keep that in mind itâs all good & bumps are expected, along with progress towards the goal. Autonomi 2.0 + x0x etc seem to be a huge stride forward, so itâs certainly an exciting time for the project.
So, itâs the mismatch between reality & comms that annoys me, but donât miss the huge progress that really is happening in front of us.
