Interesting. I asked about a Meetup Node (Site) on another thread.

I like @Seneca’s hybrid solution. It seems practical and viable. In this case, the centralized server (Meetup Node) would serve a limited but important purpose.

If we really want a real-time MMORPG, a hybrid model may be a solution. Use SAFE as the database, which handles trade, dynamic world data, etc, and use a centralized dedicated server for all real-time aspects (movement and combat). In terms of performance we’d have the best of both worlds.
