ScratchChat does this too but obviously putting it under the input box is not noticeable enough. Luckily there are people out there who can create usable UI, including you! 
@Josh this is great work and big improvement for the dweb āgalleryā if I ever build it. Or at least a blog post. Iām just too busy with other tasks.
One I was hoping to get around to is for dweb to be able to store settings in a private Scratchpad on Autonomi, initialised with something like dweb initialise-settings at least for now. That would also create a public Scratchpad for sharing data as in Atlas. My first feature for that would be a dweb UI/app that would incorporate the Names app, and provide storage of you names, and the ability to share/follow public lists of other peoples āsettingsā starting with names.
I am trying to improve the dweb adoption and use experience right now though so donāt have time for that, but if you are interested in this area let me know.
Right now Iām trying to figure out a cross-platform way for dweb open etc to spawn the main dweb server in the background if it isnāt already running, in order to eliminate the dweb serve step for folks. Thatās proving more tricky than I expected.

ā¦more what I see somewhere else from time to time ā¦ programmers tend to ignore the waiting time that sometimes occurs ā¦ or forget to add a āstarting pageā when you first open the app ā¦ and then it just looks empty and strange ā¦

Also, when you update:

should be changed to:
let antAPI = "/ant-0";
Each appās own server can handle the whole API so specifying the host+port will break it for folk who run dweb differently (cc @ambled). My bad!

That may be it. Thatās why ScratchChat locks the UI and shows a spinner until theyāve been created.
