:IF: Colony - Search Autonomi Simply

I’m late to the party, but quite excited about this. I’m curious about one aspect of it though that I don’t understand.

If I connect to multiple pods, how does Colony remember which pods I’m connected to without charging me ant fees for data storage?

Also, why is it that the syncing process takes so long?

Small marketing comment. I recommend changing the name from “Colony” to “Colo”.

A Colony search tool sounds too much like a colonoscopy.

Reporting that I tried on Android and worked at the 2nd attempt.

Sorry guys. On vacation this week, only so much time available before I get in trouble

For the storage question, Colony won’t remember your pod connections unless you upload to the network, which costs tokens. The download only mode is for those that don’t want to deal with crypto and the storage is only on your device. In this mode syncing is very slow because it is trying to download your pod from the network but it isn’t there. Downloading pods is pretty fast when they exist, but very slow if they don’t because the network tries really hard to find it before it gives up. So uploading your pod is the way to go. It only costs a few cents in total, once you get the tokens.

For the name that’s fair . I’m thinking in the end Colony will get sucked into a more feature rich app with better branding.
