Codex.storage decentralised storage system

I followed an account on twitter for https://codex.storage/ which seems to be similar to Autonomi in its aims in many ways.

I see Jim also follows the account, so is aware of the project to some degree, but I thought I’d post it here in case anyone else has experience to share, wants to try out the testnet, or delve into the docs to see how it compares with Autonomi.

Here’s a summary from a comparison by Grok:

Summary

Codex is a technically sophisticated, Web3-focused storage protocol prioritizing durability, censorship resistance, and integration into decentralized ecosystems. It’s ideal for specialized, high-stakes use cases with a clear marketplace structure.

Autonomi takes a more populist, user-driven approach, aiming to democratize storage by tapping into unused device capacity, with a focus on simplicity, privacy, and mass adoption.

While both share the goal of decentralizing storage, Codex leans toward technical precision and Web3 utility, whereas Autonomi emphasizes accessibility and a disruptive, crowd-sourced vision. Their success will likely depend on execution—Codex’s ability to deliver on durability promises and Autonomi’s capacity to onboard a critical mass of users and devices.
