[Call to Action] This community is changing and not in a good way

I agree I don’t think a marketing person is needed. How many people visit, can’t find anything to play with and leave?

Solana… currently a centralised database run by a select group of validators which continuously goes offline. While they are very far from reaching a finished product. At least they have something people can play with and use, build apps and try stuff.

Solana demonstrates MaidSafe could host a closed network, control all the nodes, restart it whenever it feels like it. That would provide a thousand times more marketing power than hiring a person.

We don’t need a finished project, we need to demonstrate where we are heading in a tangible way.

Fyi, even though I know Sqlana is a totally centralised database I still use it because Mango Markets is useful.

It generally takes me about 2-3 full days to make one of those videos, believe it or not. So the lack of them is a sign of just how busy I/we are. I’d love to get back into making some more, but at the moment there is no slack in the system to do so… which is a good sign really!

Maybe once things level out about after the Foundation is on its feet.

I will try to donate any profit that is made in arbitrage between MAID and eMAID.

All I can say is that I’m so proud of the community @Sotros25, @anon61899651, @BambooGarden, @SwissPrivateBanker and anyone else I miss for making these achievements possible. Even though some might not realize the importance of these things, yet, they are incredible milestones and show the willpower, love and dedication you have.

The holiday season is just to get started, we can expect less activity in general, august-october think things will be back in full swing.

At the time of listing the daily volume of MAID on Bittrex was hovering around 1 to 2 BTC a day. which was almost $100k worth at the time. P2PB2B initially had $30k daily volume in their contract (which is their default I believe) but I’ve had experiences with other projects during bear markets and managed to get it down to $3k. It’s not that they will instantly delist us if we don’t meet volume requirements. I’m in very good standing with P2PB2B and I think they’ve shown many times already they want to make this listing work and have been very cooperative. I can hedge between Bittrex and P2PB2B (uniswap too if I dive into how DEX’s work) so that’s great. It would be great to have the tools that automate such trading so that there is a daily volume, spreadout throughout the day (so the charts look a bit more reliable too) and where eMAID price trades x% above maid price to cover for all the fees (trading, withdrawing, converting etc). My development expertise is at mobile and I personally have no clue how to set something like that up so all manual for now.

I agree. Most projects have a constant pressure on the market with miners selling off. That maintains some sort of volume, even through bear markets. We don’t, which is why I think our project is in desperate need of a marketmaker that can provide that volume and liquidity to the market. Opening up opportunities for bigger markets in the future.

Totally agree. I’ve filled in the forms to get eMAID on both Coingecko and CMC and have been emailing back and forward with CMC to get it on there asap.

I somewhat agree that eMAID/BTC might not be the best pair to have. The reason I choose for the eMAID/BTC pair is because I know in the first several months I was going to be the one providing liquidity there and taking on the risks. I’m personally still very optimistic about crypto right now and 99% of my total assets is in crypto right now (we can argue if thats a smart thing, it probably isn’t). It’s already something that I had to sell off some of my MAID to be able to provide btc on the buy side of the market. But providing liquidity in USD would require me to exit my crypto positions in a times where I’m most bullish. That’s definitely something I’m willing to do, but it just continues to add up when it comes to my investment to maintain a listing we as a community want. hence the opening post.

Something to play with obviously helps maintaining peoples attention. However, I do think that right now we’re simply not doing anything to increase the size of our community. When taking a look at the game industry, bigger games often have developer talks once a month that engage with the community, building a massive user base moving towards their first alpha/beta/launch. Additionally, the absence of a marketing person has once again made community members step up to manage the socials like Twitter for Maidsafe. Should we drop the engagement on those too? Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great to see full focus on development and of course getting the product out should be priority number one. But if, and it’s a big if with our amazing core community, our community members would cease all actions to prevent the project from looking dead. We wouldn’t be on any exchange right now, twitter would’ve been empty for 2 years already, and price would’ve probably declined much further without people even having the options to exit the market anymore. Is it fair to say Maidsafe’s actions have lead to a huge pressure on some of the community members? I’m not sure. I’m responsible for my own actions, and so are other community members. But I do think Maidsafe doesn’t fully realise that if the community would take a step back and let it all unfold most of us probably wouldn’t be here anymore.

I totally believe making such video takes a lot of time and I’m also confident you’re attention is needed elsewhere, so I understand why you’re not doing them anymore. I am saying that I think you guys have been saying you’re extremely busy and we’re making such amazing progress for so long now and after all this time it takes more than hearing that to get excited. I think with a few simple steps Maidsafe can have so much more engagement with its community and by doing so have a bigger reach on their socials too. Increasing its community size and exposure and solving a lot of issues the community is currently facing. Again, don’t get me wrong, I feel your pressure too, and I totally agree on not having to much distraction from the focus on getting the network out, but just a small time investment to engage a bit more with the community (and especially the reach outside of this forum) would be beneficial and I think most here would agree.

There is only one reason less than 1% converted from MAID to eMAID, you the reason, it’s the ID verification, nobody wants it, nobody needs it.
Plus, Bittrex are scum, shortly after they stated holding user’s funds hostage until you fill their ID verification process everybody left that exchange and now it’s a desert, so less people are doing the arbitrage between MAID to eMAID.

It could have been an open source tool to migrates MAID to eMAID imo which would simplify the process and attract more people to do so.

eMAID is purchasable on both P2PB2B and Uniswap without need for KYC and arguably at a lower price than buying MAID on Bittrex and needing to convert yourself. Liquidity providers on both those platforms will bundle transactions and buy back omni maid to convert to eMAID again so I don’t think that’s a valid argument for the low amount of eMAID in circulation at the moment. I personally feel Altcoinomy did an amazing job to make onboarding incredibly smooth but there are plenty of people providing liquidity on the eMAID markets that you don’t have to go through it if you don’t want.

You are missing the point, one that bought eMAID is still “stuck” with his MAID, so his migration process is only 50% complete.

@anon61899651, your dedication and contributions to the project/community are exemplary. I hope some of your frustrations don’t ultimately lead you to leave entirely. I’m saying that because I’ve seen that happen in the past with some of the most ardent supporters of the project. So thank you for your contributions, and I hope you find a way to manage your frustrations and keep contributing here even if in a far reduced capacity.

Don’t forget, you can also download the BRAVE browser and donate BAT to the SAFE Network website. Getting paid for surfing the web is financially savvy. If we all did that the money would pile up quickly.

KYC for conversion is a lot more reasonable than bittrex. The information they ask for is on point. They are humans who you can talk with, and want to help you. As KYC go, it was a good experience.

This is from someone that hates KYC

As much as an atomic swap tool would have been amazing, the development effort involved is not practical. Honestly give KYC ago with a small amount of MAID, I think you will be surprised how nice the people at Altcoinomy actually are.

This is the best community in crypto, by far. I’m proud to be here. :racehorse:

That being said, we are all trying to get better. That’s one thing that makes us great. :racehorse:
