XDG has committed a fix a while ago, but a new version containing that commit hasn’t been released yet (last release is from May 2018).
A solution would be using the xdg-utils-git (AUR) package instead of xdg-util. It includes the fix (besides numerous others), but is of course not recommended on the long run as you’ll want to have a stable release most of the time.
