:IF: Announcing - MutAnt: Mutable Key/Value storage (prev: Anthill)

mmh the secret key is normally read from the ant client’s wallet in .local/share/autonomi/client/wallets/0xMY_PUBLIC_KEY
That file contains the private key I use with Mutant.
Try to import it via ant wallet import YOUR_KEY ?

I have $SECRET_KEY already set and ant wallet balance gives me the correct output

That’s not a valid key - it’s supposed to be the secret key of a wallet!

Yeah it looks funny to me too, for example the testnet private key looks like this

Do you want to switch to DM so that I can investigate this with you ?

Of course Im not going to post a valid secret key
Now do you take sugar in that coffee?

Let me get a coffee and I’ll be right with you

C0FFEEBABEFACE was an address I was shown several decades ago to help test a Novell Netware install.

If I mind right it used co-ax and 10base-2 connectors?
Did anyone else have weird desk sculptures made of 10base-2 adapters?
Looked like early versions of Transformers

I don’t know any of those words :upside_down_face:

On the support desk we make no assumptions about what users won’t do  and that error is exactly what I’d expect if that was the key you had set so :man_shrugging:

@rusty.spork somebody here claiming to be “support desk”

Immediate permaban, please.

If anybody else get this problem, you need to delete your ~/.config/mutant/config.json

A little bit more teasing

Right now I’m working on creating a public accessible website on which you don’t need to register nor login.
You just arrive there and immediately start to browse publicly available content from the official index for free.
You will be given the choice to connect a crypto wallet at anytime (metamask only at first) for you to upload your own data publicly or privatly and eventually share anything with the official index.

I’m not sure that what I want to build out of this is really compatible with the current state of Mutant’s development. I might have to push the walls a little bit so expect breaking changes ^^’

I’m also thinking about rebranding and giving this project a clear graphical identity. Any advice and opinion on this matter would be more than welcome

Mutant Beta Test

Hello folks ! I’m preparing the release of Mutant v0.7.0.
Everything seems ok feature wise even if there are still some UI fixes to do.

However, before releasing this version on Crates.io, I would like to perfom some real tests on the mainnet with some other people.

So here is the gist: Up until the end of the week, I will reward with some USDC* to each of the first 10 people that test mutant on the Mainnet by uploading a public file of their choice using the web interface, then you must post your colony pod address here for everybody to see your content. If you encounter some errors or blockage, you can seek help here or on discord.

*(less or equal to 5 USDC each, depending on participation)

Quick start

All in one script to download required dependencies, download and build the project, then start both the daemon and the web interface.
Tested only on linux, i’m not sure it works for the rest

curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Champii/Mutant/refs/heads/master/install.sh | bash

You will need to provide a private key and a colony mnemonic phrase. The script says that it can generate one for you but that feature is broken for now.
You can generate both here if you need: BIP39 Passphrase Generator - Mnemonic to Seed Tool - Developer Tools

Finally, allow the daemon a minute or two to completely setup your colony pod on the first run before trying to upload a file. You can track this progress on the colony window or in the console.

Once everything is installed and running, head to http://localhost:8080

Upload a public file

Find you colony address

Note: You will not be able to see you own uploaded content in the colony window, only the one from your contacts.
Your own upload are only shown in the right-side bar of the app.

Closing

This version works on the mainnet, but expect some rough edges until I stabilize this Beta version into a proper release.

As usual, you can head to the github and open an issue if you find one, or provide a pull request if you feel adventurous :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s all, folks !

I will start with my own address, with only one video for now (that you can view directly in your browser)

Add me to your Colony contacts to access my content, but also all of the content of my other contacts (and theirs) ! (Thanks @zettawatt  )

Only one complaint about IF and all the projects so far— Why do you ALL want to use port 8080?

Sorry @happybeing - I need to pkill -e dweb for a while…

was just thinking the exact same thing

perhaps a raffle for ports around the 8080 range is in order

dweb serve --port <PORT>

But you will need to add that to dweb open too.

I agree though, I’m an idiot who follows convention when he doesn’t understand things.

Attention smart people - what port shall we grab for dweb? @neo? @traktion?
