This is a brainstorming thread to gather ways of seeing and promoting what Autonomi has brought to the table. What do you think is great in Autonomi, or in some apps that live on the Autonomi network?
If it is something that someone else has already said, or is self-evident, say it anyway. We benefit from hearing various angles and various, slightly different ways of putting these things to words.
Two things from me for the beginning:
One:
I find the idea of owning the data you use, and data persistence more and more compelling.
For a long time I have been just a consumer of Spotify, Netflix for example. For the most part, they work very well for my purposes. But it still feels like living on someone elses property. Songs sometimes dissappear. UI and terms can change just like that. Their UI also feel “too commercial” for my taste. But the ease of use, and the difficulty, and limited scope of alternatives has been keeping me in.
The only time I play records that I own is when I put some 12" on the turntable. I don’t own any media files. I think Autonomi might change this. I’m thinking about Jams app here, for example.
Two
Unlimited, immaterial hard drive space.
Thinking about Ryyn app, and many others, I really like the idea that I can buy hard drive cloud space just the amount I need. And it’s never going run out, and it is always there.
I hate the fact that I have many hard drives of various ages in my drawers and closets. They may have valuable content, but they are very difficult to approach to me. Some might have lost power sources, some are formatted for some old Apple device, and I am not sure if it fits together with my current systems.
If only saving files would have better balance between solving problems and creating them. With Autonomi I finally feel that there is a place, where data can sit forever, and still be accessed easily. And it doesn’t mean collecting all this HD devices at my home.
In a way Autonomi feels like finally arriving home after a long journey.
