I’m just happy he’s calling it out. Take my wins where I can get them.
He saved freedom of speech, that has to count for something.
X is in my opinion the only widely used social media platform that is making a concerted effort to allow independent thought to be expressed that doesn’t conform to the narrative.
I think that is good. It will also not go unchallenged, if it holds until a new internet arrives then all is well.
Or we could all just live in the google bard / gemini world where producing images of white people is a sin. The world is a mess.
Gemini create a image of a Hispanic person, ok.
Gemini create a image of a black person, ok.
Gemini create a image of a white person, I am not comfortable doing that.
How and why are we living in such a bizarre sim, none of this is progress it is just the same wrongs yoyoing through time.
My mind is, I hope, totally open. The amount of binary thinking is beyond me. Ok Maybe Elon is a bad something or other, but good at other stuff. Same with anyone. Nowadays, it seems we are all judged only by what folk love or hate about us.
As time moves on it’s not getting better, but worse and normal calm thinkers seem to be moving to extreme positions while politicians seem to just chase votes and whatever opinion polls say they should do.
I am not sure how it goes from here, but we must stand firm and ask questions and if we could all stop judging people as good or evil then it would be a great start.
Good or bad, Elon seeks and gets too much attention IMHO. 1 guy can do only so much.
And I hope that he does what he promises in the article below. A ‘towel service’-company I know also complained a couple of years ago about Tesla. They didn’t pay for delivered towel services as promised and did try to escape it by an explanation a la: you should be happy to be privileged to have the chance to work for us (they could keep that ‘privilege’ after that)
What do you guys think about Satoshi’s comments on Ripple?
I finding interesting that the CEO of Ripple nearly always attends WEF meetings.
I think the decentralized dream of what Ripple could be was transformed into a centralized nightmare. The lure of huge $$$ maybe was too much for the founders.

THE NEW SATOSHI EMAILS: EARLY DEVELOPER SIRIUS RELEASES 120 PAGES DETAILING WORK ON BITCOIN
A look at some of the more significant exchanges in Martti Malmi’s recently disclosed email correspondence with Satoshi Nakamoto.
FEB 23, 2024
Satoshi Nakamoto’s earliest collaborator Martii ‘Sirius’ Malmi has released his entire email correspondence with Bitcoin’s creator.
Spurred by an ongoing lawsuit in the U.K., the new emails are the most significant addition to the canon of what we know about Bitcoin’s still anonymous creator.
Here are the most important new findings.

Attempt to poison projects mistakenly using malware infected forks of other repositories. Which could also poison Copilot.
Beware crates.io too. Last week while searching for filesystem crates I noticed some were based on forks with negligible changes from the original with minor renaming and at least one that has the original repo name, because it hadn’t already been published to crates.io. Possibly as part of this attack, IDK.
Libreplanet is on the 4th and 5th of May, here are the speakers (projects like Lichess, Blender, Taler, lots of other more general stuff):

I’m not sure if they’re still accepting proposals for talks, but they are looking for “exhibitors” still (setting up a stall):

Paging @JimCollinson just in case it slipped under the radar in these busy times
I’ve been more proactively nosing around what’s going on in AI-land these days - has anyone played with GitHub - janhq/jan: Jan is an open source alternative to ChatGPT that runs 100% offline on your computer? Looks quite relevant
Musk has sought a court ruling that would compel OpenAI to make its research and technology available to the public and prevent the startup from using its assets, including GPT-4, for financial gains of Microsoft or any individual.
