How much work left to reach beta?

So according to the roadmap we only have farming left to do before the Fleming release? Is this true?

I think the main issue is having a network up and running. The last testnet had bugs and now DBC where introduced to mitigate those problems. I am not sure how much of a rewrite this requires or how long this implementation will take to get to a release product. We haven’t had a testnet in over a month so I assume there is a lot of work to be done…
The bugs are not related.
They’ve had to do with networking issues, anti-entropy issues and bugs in data syncing between nodes in general and during splits. Among things.
DBCs are added because it allows a token infrastructure with the properties we need. AT2 accounts didn’t meet all requirements. (An important one is anonymity for example).
Fixing bugs and developing the payments and rewards and improving on various things, all happen in parallel.

Does this mean that only one spendbook, like spendbook DB, can exist on the SN network?
Does this mean that each mint in each section has his own spendbook? In this case, new mints download the spendbook of his section. However, if network is asynchronous, the contents of the spendbooks of mints (Elders) in section may be different for each mint in specific time. Then, how does the new mints know that the downloaded spendbook is correct? Also whose spendbook should the new mints sync?
Or, do SN store and manage one spanbook per section?

Not everything needs to happen at the same pace, service to customers can be an order of magnitude less that the hectic back office agreement.

I think the magic here might come from a CRDT for shared mutable/appendable data. Time will tell.

Is there a good video or article giving a summary of what’s been going on the last few years? I’ve been following maid since the ICO in 2014 and have seen the team go dark a few times to do big pushes but now the updates seem to be so technical and fine detailed that it’s hard to see the forest from the trees anymore. From a user and investor’s perspective it seems like the wheels are just spinning with no traction. As a developer I see there’s lots of infrastructure being laid down but… How to restore inspiration in maid?
