SAFEpress: A Web App that builds websites/blogs on SAFE Network

I was thinking of doing a barebones html frontend for this that saves the posts/data to the users locally for now. Once SAFE is up we can map the data from say couchdb to SAFE. In the future I see users writing their data either to their device (possibly like pouchdb) and/or safe directly to SAFE. I am going to structure the database in couchdb to reflect the wordpress database as closely as possible to make any sort of imports/exports easier going forward. Are we kind of on the same wavelength here?

This is exactly what I have in mind. It would be good to see what you are doing as you go if you can share this.

What I’d like is to see are data structures you have in mind and how they will be used. I was planning to sketch this out as a document - and still hope to - but if you beat me to it in documentation or code no problem, and if you want to let me see anything as you proceed I’d love it.

I’m gonna hit the UI pretty hard this weekend as proof of concept. I will leave the database options up in the air for now. If you would like to sketch out the database structure or possibly create a template for one in couchdb we can use (since it is your project…don’t want to step on any toes! ) that may be even better! I’ll share my progress as I go so we don’t duplicate work or wander off into the void. lol!

That sounds good. I’m limited on time, but will let you know if I do any work on this so you can take a look. I can’t wait to see what you produce. Good luck!

Its kind of my project atm but I’m not planning to hang onto it. I’m not used to collaborative working so learning, but I see this as ā€œownedā€ by everyone who gets involved, not just devs but users too.

By the way, what do you think about place for SAFEpress developer discussions? Google group? Any other ideas?

I think a google group would be easiest and sufficient for what we need at this time.

@happybeing this is probably one of the weirdest question you probably ever got, but…
Can’t you use Watson to create webapp? seeing this list of things that Watson can do… I would hope that it can also do programming and hacking of a site for optimization.

I’ve created a diagram which shows how Web Apps will work on SAFE Network, including SAFEpress:

Javascript has a lot of security holes, why are you guys assisting to use broken language? I’m curious.

What would you suggest as a more secure alternative for building web front ends?

Does this mean that all that Django I learned is not wasted?

Its not just two of us by the way, we have six active contributors, and more who have said they want to help out in various ways.

We now have a task list on Trello (thanks to @Southside) for anyone who wants to see what we’re doing, or thinks they might be able to give some time (not all coding - lots of things needed for a new product). Anyone wanting to check out the Trello tasks please PM myself or @Southside for an invitation, once you’re signed up visit: Trello
