The account creation tool is confusing.

What is secret? You mean username?

Did you read the explanation? Have to admit I didn’t, but hopefully it covers this and new users will read it.

@frabrunelle:

We are planning to bring TEST 8 down next Monday (September 19).

What about alpha 1?

Are you using Semver for versioning and can we therefore assume back comparability of 0.9.0 Launcher with 0.8.0/1 Launchers?

And high five for getting all this done. Am going to take a look soon

It should stay till Alpha 2. These API changes need to bed in first though so the more playing the better for all of us. Thanks Mark, know you will poke around.

Yes but we break API in minor versions until 1.0.0 for now.

Oh, this is big news! I am going to have to get a play with this!

I am going to have to take a peak at the source and see what else can be done with this new messaging layer! Being able to transfer ownership of data is a big deal and paves the way for a lot of cool stuff! :grinning:

So this (0.9.0) is not back compatible with 0.8.0/1? I want to be 100% clear!

[Edit Francis pinged me to clarify here]

Yes safe_core is not backwards compatible AFAIK it certainly is using different vaults etc. I am not 100% sure if it only added API Calls, but I think it changed the safe_core API calls (from json to c like), it was a mammoth change really.

safe_launcher is backwards compatible (adds API calls), it added API calls, you will see it’s the old version of safe_demo_app so we are Ok there.

Thanks @frabrunelle for correcting me there, I was a layer to far down.

I think the SAFE Launcher APIs should be backward compatible, considering that we didn’t need to update the SAFE Demo App. New APIs were added, but the existing ones were not modified (as far as I know)

Thanks David & Francis.

I’m building the email_app now - have created an ID in the demo app (http://happybeing.safenet/) but not sure if that is in a separate name space than an email ID?

There’s a binary in the tutorial app. it’s click-n-run and you are asked for a name for email.

Yes. it’s a different name space.

The demo app uses the DNS API while the email app uses the Appendable Data API.

Thanks Francis & Rene, I am now in both namespaces. Naturally I ran from source code - always do things the hard way - and have now sent my first SAFEnetwork email.

But who to?

I can’t help but feel that a lot, perhaps too many “regular folks” will not /do not understand the significance of this.
I wish there was a way to clearly demonstrate to Joe Blog that communication on clearnet is akin to screaming your secrets over a loudspeaker in Times Square.
How do we drive this home?
