Thats asking a lot from my aging memory

Im just too lazy to trawl the archives and it hardly matters anyway.
I’d prefer to concentrate on those who have taken our money and haven;t run away

AND have a solid project to work on.

Did anyone say with considerable resources, too?

Honestly though the silliness of throwing money at anyone with an idea and the ability to use Microsoft Office back then falls squarely upon… us.

I only put money into Project Decorum.
Been taken for a mug on a few exchanges though…

Seriously?! Whiteout was one of the most loyal fighters for this project - half a bitcoin back then was like 300 euros… Maybe 600…

If I remember correctly he raised like 20 or 25k usd in crypto - that’s probably somewhere between 3 months and half a years salary for a programmer… He was fiercely promoting and supporting the project for the following years (believing it would launch ‘soon’ just like the people who invested into him) until it became silent around him.

Just leave that guy alone… Or maybe try to hunt him down for your couple hundred euros you lost investing into safe fs… :weary_cat:

I bought a btc of safex, one day before it crashed from 250 sats to 50.

I guess MacAfee shilling the project convinced you to buy :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

i got some cash disappeared in another project here,
it’s not the best feeling to fail without starting but it’s a good lesson, a practice round for Possible Futures ahead.
People move on, life happens, i have no ill feeling towards the stalled projects they did interesting work and put in their best efforts while they were with us or none of us would have parted with cash.

Hope Will shows up though.

This topic kind of reminds me of Project Decorum. Is that still alive or similar story? Does anyone know?

Project Decorum is very much alive. @bzee from that project is working for Autonomi so that it can be in a position to move forward.

@JPL beat me to it

AFAICT Project Decorum is still a Thing

The main men were/are @Seneca and @bzee

@Seneca posted fairly recently and @bzee is now working for Autonomi.

I fully expect Project Decorum to be front and centre when the first lot of Impossible Futures candidates are announced.

IIRC work ceased on Project Decorum because they had gone as far as they could without a stable API - well we (nearly) have that now.

Oh no this was way earlier, it was just before when he burst out in flames and decided to go blockchain.

Enough with the scamming talking without evidence.

For what its worth, he was a young person whose heart seemed in the right place.
He lived out of a van to keep costs low.
He setup SAFE “cells” in Asian cities
He was very active promoting SAFE as @Southside already mentioned
A lot of time has passed between then and now, and realistically he could not have started his project till this year.
I have written off the project at the moment as a failed project(s) and not a scam. From what i can tell he had no intentions on scamming and as @Southside mentioned he only raised a small amount and he actually stopped raising money when it reached what he thought was enough. He could have gone further.

This is true but Im not sure I can claim credit for any of it.

All I can say is that I am sorry that @whiteoutmashups is not present to defend himself.

Yeah. His efforts for the project / community were probably worth as much as he raised. Maybe he used the funds for some of those promotional events as well as supporting his efforts to make something?

I do feel that if you take money publicly, you should also let people who gave it to you know what’s happened with it, or refund it if you can’t carry out what was intended (as with Project Decorum, who gave a refund to anyone who wanted it at decent profit IIRC).

Anyway, I wish Whiteoutmashups well. It wasn’t a lot of money, and he seemed well intentioned. I hope he comes back when he realises the progress that’s being made here.

Will definitely meant well. A little misguided, ambitious as hell but ultimately too early and like @neo said, young.

I just don’t think he understood the gravity of taking other peoples money if things didn’t work out.

Very sorry for those who lost anything obviously. I think most people have made similar mistakes in crypto early on. Doesn’t make it hurt any less.

I hope we get to the stage where folk can fail with grace. So be allowed to fail and also be expected to say so. So I think folk that imagine themselves investors (me included here) have to consider it’s a gamble and sometimes it’s just support, but it’s incumbent on those who do fail to say so, even if it’s painful and a small % of folk will give them a very hard time. To me it’s part of the moral contract you make when getting investment/support from people, some of whom may not really be in a position to lose it all, even though they themselves have now put themselves under pressure.

Bottom line, it should be a mutually agreed risk.
