Node Upgrade Alert! Time to Update Again!

Yes, safeup has been installed. After typing the command nothing happens e.g:

PS C:\Users\admin> safeup node-manager
PS C:\Users\admin> safenode-manager add --count 5 --owner profess_99099 --home-network --data-dir-path C:\ --log-dir-path C:\

How many nodes, and for how long have they been running?

Yesterday I launched 5 nodes were running ~ 12-15 hours.

Still a chnace they are running fine though. But it might be worth changing the connecton mode to Home Network, and letting them run over night

I will keep trying but I want to do it on a new computer which has much better performance, besides I have a suspicion, that the lack of earnings may be due to a broken Internet connection on the old computer.

I’m trying to encourage you to continue with the Launchpad  I think it’ll work quite well for you

Jim I understand  However, the new station requires full configuration, even launching Launchpad requires more work than launching the CLI because some components are missing, and I, with my huge time deficit, just want to rule out the old computer as the source of the problem - lack of earnings.

I’ve also been testing my hardware, connections, etc. since the beginning of the Beta and finally decided to buy a new computer with much more capabilities, and since I’ve been using safenode-manager since the beginning, I want to see how it will work on the new station and whether I’ll finally start earning nano. Once I have configured the computer then I will probably install Launchpad.

test that with a simple ping command

ping xe.com <— always up, always SafeForWork and short to type

Absolute first step in diagnosing potential internet hassle.

Others may say to physically check the patch leads first. No - that involves more physical effort than typing 12 keystrokes.

Hmmm, I have a strange situation, I ran the ping xe.com command and got this result with the nodes stopped:

PS C:\Users\gggg> ping xe.com

Pinging xe.com [18.244.146.40] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 18.244.146.40: bytes=32 time=39ms TTL=245
Reply from 18.244.146.40: bytes=32 time=32ms TTL=245
Reply from 18.244.146.40: bytes=32 time=41ms TTL=245
Reply from 18.244.146.40: bytes=32 time=81ms TTL=245

Ping statistics for 18.244.146.40:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 32ms, Maximum = 81ms, Average = 48ms

After that I wanted to check the same command with the nodes running, so I launched the nodes using Launchpad:

nodes should work, but after checking the status of the safenode-manager, a message appears that the nodes are stopped and error: access denied:

Can this even be the case?

Running the ping command should not cause your nodes to change from “Running” to “Stopped”.

Anyway, now you know that basic network connectivity is NOT one of your problems.

Also I would try to avoid using safenode-manager and node-launchpad on the same nodes. Does launchpad still say your nodes are running?
Can you look at your nodes data storage (wherever that is on windows) and see if any records are being stored? Check the date/time for sanity if there are.

The ping command was run when the nodes were stopped, only later was it me who launched the nodes using Launchpad. On the other hand, since they were started in Launchpad, they should also work in the CLI, right?

As far as the data store is concerned, it looks like the nodes are working:

THey should. But we have seen the status of nodes being misreported.

Try the ping command again without any nodes running. Let ti run for say 50 pings and note the times.
Now fire up 10 nodes and run the same ping command. Compare the times, see if there is any significant difference.

You are definitely storing chunks - just not profitable chunks yet

As for me, I always complained about not getting nanos…since the last update, I’m very happy with the performance of my nodes!!!
Launchpad with 50 nodes…!!!
Thank you very much for making it possible!!!

I restarted the computer and found that in Launchpad the nodes are stopped. I can of course do as you recommend but it’s a waste of time to check the old computer, 3 months I fought with it and it still doesn’t want to pay

Now I want to launch the nodes on the new station using safenode-manager and I need guidance because I am installing it for the first time.At the moment I have already done :

  • Download the WinSW-x64.exe
  • Rename the downloaded binary to winsw.exe
  • Copy the binary to C:\Windows\system32
  • Install safeup

Can you give me some guidance on what to do next?

I don’t understand why you are not getting any output when you run safeup. That’s really strange.

Btw, you don’t need to download WinSW any more. The launchpad does that automatically.

Its best if someone who has a clue about Windows helps you here.

It’s not the Launchpad, it’s the CLI, I want to run safenode-manager for Windows 10 for the first time on a new computer,

Probs silly Qs but:

  • Are you running as Admin?
  • Is the firewall blocking the nodes?

If you saw, I can test to see if a node is able to respond to clients. I have written a script that I'd like help to test

I just need the peerID in text form. Copy n paste the peerID (12…) and I can test.

If I can get a quote from the peer then it is communicating with the network and is able to earn. Whether --home-network or port forwarded it will work. All the test does is try to upload a chunk to the node

Yes, I run as admin and the nodes are not blocked by firewall.
