Well the long and short of it is… you know how like bitcoin has a block chain? Well maidsafe doesnt.

I think we need to add a new section to the FaQ to address discussions like this. They keep popping up.
@BigTimeScamer Perhaps you’d be interested in participating in the hackathon to hack the SAFE network and win some money as a prize? There’s much talk of funding one. Seriously SAFE is being built as we speak. If you have guenine concerns then voice them but make sure you read up on how the system works first. When SAFE gets built and then works as expected THEN will you believe it can run without a blockchain?

the groups can not work together because they are chosen at random based on XOR distrance, vault rankings, etc.
