I would also like to know if there will be a Maidsafe OS distro for farmers, a kind of set n forget system to attach to a NAS box that can be re-installed at any moment in case of any suspected corruption to the OS without destroying to stored data on the external drives.

There will be a deb rpm tar zip msi and osx package (for farmer, dev, dev with debug symbols, utilities (tests) and some applications), we are holding back right now, but these are in testing and being added to Qa suite.
