I wonder how the SAFE Network will handle this network full issue when we have safecoins and somebody got like over 10M safecoins, so enough ammo to attack the network. What if money to buy these coins is not a problem? What if hardware to farm safecoins is not a problem? Over 3K people with home computers compare to data farms that can be turned on/off by an attacker seems bad. If anything we’ll need as much people on board to kickstart this.
Google also had an invite only for their Gmail, “invite only” also makes it a sought after product. So it could also work good for marketing, while preventing the sicko’s from just turning resources on/off. Hmmm an disadvantage could be people asking to a fee for an invite
They will use up their coins before the network is full. As the network gets over a certain %age the price of PUTs will keep increasing. So as it closer to being full the price approaches 1 coin per PUT. And as its rising farmers are encouraged to farm so the available space increase.
I guess it was an attack, the network is small and I also created a second account and filled it up with private data as fast as I could (around 45 minutes) to see the reaction in my own Vaults. The reaction was only around 30 mb’s of extra storage for my Vaults. (500 mb x 8 = 4000 mb spread over 140 Vaults). The moment people here on the forum talked about a possible attack it was filling up quite fast, so I guess several nodes running scripts. You can see it on the number of client accounts as well:
422 in just my group. With 9 to 10 groups that’s over 4000 accounts.
I agree, that’s why I would strongly oppose against lists with users and the number of tokens etc. This is just a community forum and we should just handout tokens whenever our users ask for them. I see no reason for people to try to get as much of them as possible.
More storage = less space in the network = Farming Reward going up. The network wants at least 30% of free space, so if someone could manage to bring the total free space down to 28% or 25% the algo’s would kick in quite fast. My view is that the reaction will be exponential. So 30% free space = FR is just normal (1). If we drop to 29% the FR could become 1.05 (5% extra). If we go to 28% it could be 1.1 (10% extra). At 27% it could be 1.2 and at 26% it could go to 1.3 etc.
