Can’t new factories be build?
This isn’t a EUV lithography machine shortage problem is it?
It’s not like there’s only one or two companies that can build the machines that can build SSDs and HDDs.
Or is it?

Yep, and I reckon they are being built … but that takes a lot of time - including staffing new facilities ordering all the equipment - which itself will probably be put on back-order lol. Production is complicated - especially when it comes to highly technical things like this.
So as of writing this iv been doing abit of chia myself and hdds aren’t really an issue as long as your abit smarter than the average bear, sata hdds are skyrocketing in price and rarity however enterprise 3.5" sas drives seem fairly unaffected so far. With a simple sas to sata adapter easily found they run on any normal hardware and due to being enterprise grade are fantastic drives.
April 20th I was moaning about not being able to find a GPU.
5 months later and I finally landed one. Unbelievable
Chia growth is levelling, HDD prices are already coming back down.
Edit.
When you get every Tom, dick and bones buying 1/2 PB to bang in their office it causes shortages.
As we can’t just add space at will its a completely different issue as to what we’ll have I think.
